Police arrest parents of infant whose body was dumped near Yankees Stadium

Police have arrested the parents of an infant girl whose body was dumped in a wooded area near Yankees Stadium in the Bronx, Breitbart reported. The child's 23-year-old father, Damion Comager, was charged with manslaughter and murder.

Three-month-old baby Genevieve allegedly met her demise at the hands of her father. Comager claims that on May 14, he shook his infant daughter because she would not stop crying.

He later discovered that Genevieve was dead. Comager said he "panicked" and put his daughter's lifeless body into a bag and dumped her in an area that was filled with trash near the Major Deegan Expressway.

Genevieve's grandfather, Donald Comager, said his son admitted to shaking the baby, the New York Post reported. After consulting with his pastor, the elder Comager said he wanted to "do the right thing" and alerted the police.

"I called my pastor before I made the phone call," Donald Comager said. “We prayed, and he told me he can’t tell me what to do, but I should do the right thing," he added.

"That’s when I made the call. That was my grandbaby," the grandfather said.

Comager and the baby's 20-year-old mother, Ivana Paolozzi, were living in a transitional shelter at the time near where the body was dumped. After discovering that the baby died, they staged a macabre scenario to smuggle her body out of the shelter so as not to raise questions.

"Both defendants changed her diaper, placed her in a onesie and a hat, wrapped her in a blanket, and placed her in the stroller," Assistant District Attorney Serena Newell said of the couple in court. "The defendant pushed that stroller containing Genevieve’s corpse out of the shelter where they were living, successfully prompting no inspection or questions from the shelter staff," Newell added.

Before this heinous crime, Louisiana native Damion Comager traveled to Paris to flee alleged crimes in Colorado. He already had a history of crimes such as domestic violence, assault, and criminal impersonation charges from 2021.

While there, he connected on Facebook with Paolozzi, who lived in Switzerland. In December, the pair moved to New York, where Genevieve was born just three months later.

Unfortunately, Damion Comager had a history of mental illness that may have contributed to his previous crimes. As a child, Comager was diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Perhaps with this information in mind, Genevieve's grandparents often checked in with the couple over FaceTime. However, it became clear something was off when Damion Comager's mother, Ashley, stopped seeing the baby.

"I just thought he stopped FaceTiming, and we talk[ed] on the phone," she told the Post. "I knew something was wrong when I wasn’t hearing the baby. I asked him, ‘How’s the baby?’ He would say, ‘The baby is fine, the baby is sleeping,'" Ashley Comager recounted before he finally fessed up.

It's a tragedy that this poor, defenseless child died at the hands of her father. However, the fact that her parents allegedly attempted to cover the crime by treating her corpse like garbage is sickening.
