After Charlie Kirk was killed, the usual conspiracy theories started to show up online.
They were outrageous, such as his bodyguards working with the shooter to kill him.
FBI Director Kash Patel recently addressed this, saying he would be pulling all the threads, even the crazy ones, to satisfy all the questions being asked about Kirk’s death.
The most popular conspiracy theory I saw was that this was an inside job.
This all got started because someone saw Kirk’s bodyguards making signals just before the shot was fired, thinking that they were giving the okay to take the shot.
Security consultant Stan Kephart shot that down, explaining, “I can tell you from experience — those were definitely hand signals. The way they were done was not casual. It was more than one signal. My suspicion is that he’s checking off with somebody else, perhaps a supervisor, saying everything is okay. It doesn’t arouse my suspicions. If he wasn’t okay, or if he had something to say, he would have reverted not to hand signals, but to his communication system.”
I will admit that I believe the security around Kirk was sloppy, as basic protocol dictates that elevated positions should be cleared (in most situations, a team member would also hold an elevated position to ensure no shooters were present). Now, this may have been because his security team made an assumption that they only had to worry about people rushing Kirk and not a shooter, but that assumption, if it was made, cost Kirk his life. But no, I do not believe it was an inside job.
While there were far more than just two, the plane transponder theory is one that really gained traction, to the point that Patel has already investigated it.
There was a private plane that took off in the area, but it soon lost contact, so the theory was that the plane had helped the shooter escape.
The plane was registered to a company called Komigo, whose CEO, Derek Maxfield, spoke on the matter, stating, “As often happens, unfortunately, in the wake of such terrifying and public events, a variety of baseless theories and suspicions around Mr. Kirk’s murder immediately took hold on social media, including one that has unfairly impacted our family.”
Maxfield further explained, “Radar services with air traffic control were terminated in mutual agreement between Denver FAA center and N888KG approximately 10 miles from landing at PGA, which is consistent with generally accepted standard practice when flying in and out of non-towered airports like PGA.”
Patel did investigate the plane theory, stating, "We can share updates (about the plane) when answers are confirmed. After interviews with the pilot and consultation with the FAA, we determined the transponder was not turned off. Incomplete flight data in rural areas caused the apparent gap."
He added, "We are meticulously investigating theories and questions, including the location from where the shot was taken, the possibility of accomplices, the text message confession and related conversations, Discord chats, the angle of the shot and bullet impact, how the weapon was transported, hand gestures observed as potential ‘signals' near Charlie at the time of his assassination, and visitors to the alleged shooter’s residence in the hours and days leading up to September 10, 2025."
Patel concluded, "Our primary focus is to complete this investigation and deliver justice. To protect the integrity of the investigation and subsequent prosecution, we cannot release every piece of information we have to the public right now."
I am actually glad Patel plans on pulling on all these strings so we can put all these theories to rest. This was a sole shooter who was upset at Kirk, nothing more. Let’s hope Patel wraps this all up as soon as possible, then we can focus on getting justice for Charlie.
