Attorney General Pam Bondi is not playing games right now, making it clear she is the person in charge of the Justice Department on several fronts.
Bondi is not only wiping the department clean of what she is describing as activist prosecutors, but she is also letting those planning to protest the president on Saturday know that her department will drop the hammer on them.
Bondi recently put all prosecutors on notice who had been working against Jan. 6 defendants..
The AG specifically referenced cases against rioters who were charged with seditious conspiracy, as she appears to believe this was overreach by a mile from the Merrick Garland DOJ.
One DOJ insider stated, “One of the Trump Administration’s first actions upon entering office was dismissing the glut of weaponized prosecutors from the DOJ."
The source added, “These are the people who used glorified misdemeanors to prosecute [Trump’s] supporters for the indignity of being at the Capitol on January 6, 2021. The same people who raided the home of a former President and tried to incarcerate him for possessing classified information.”
This weekend, Donald Trump has a dual celebration planned for his birthday and the 250th birthday of the United States Army.
Liberals, however, are not too thrilled, and they are planning “No Kings” protests in D.C. and around the country.
Ezra Levin, co-founder of Indivisible, one of the groups behind the “day of defiance,” stated, “We’ve seen hundreds of new events on the No Kings Day map since the weekend. We’ve seen hundreds of thousands of people register for those events.”
Levin added, “We did not want to give him the excuse to crack down on counter-protesters in DC. We didn’t want to give him the narrative device to say we’re protesting the military. Instead, we wanted to make him look as small and weak as he is, and protest everywhere else in the country.”
We all know how this works... these events are marked as protests, but they often turn violent, and Bondi has already put protesters on notice that if anyone gets out of line, they are going to be dealt with rather harshly.
Her office stated, "As we’ve said repeatedly, the Department respects the right to peacefully protest & assemble to engage on important issues."
The statement added, "However, the Department and its 94 US Attorney Offices will not tolerate unlawful violence & destruction of property. We are prepared to respond accordingly."
My opinion... This is going to get ugly, as there is no way all these protests are going to take place without violence breaking out at some point. I know Trump is proud of our military, and I know he is also doing this for his birthday, but with the ICE riots going on, I just cannot help but think this is like tossing a can of gasoline into a lit fire.
