Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) is fuming over the fact that the United States is considering a strike against Iran, claiming that nobody is attacking or has attacked Americans.
She clearly needs another history lesson.
Omar has no apparent knowledge of how Iran works.
For decades, Iran has offered support to numerous militias and terror groups to do its dirty work when it comes to attacking American troops.
For instance, earlier this month, “several Iranian missiles aimed at their military bases” were intercepted by US forces after Iran-backed militia launched an attack.
There was also an attempted drone strike on June 14, again by Iran-backed militia forces.
Some of Iran’s biggest allies in terms of attacking our forces stationed in the Middle East have been Houthi rebels, who are supported by Iran.
In March, there were reports that the Houthis launched 18 missiles at the USS Harry Truman and other warships that were patrolling in the Red Sea.
A Houthi spokesperson took credit for the attack, stating that the missiles were "in retaliation to the continued American aggression against our country.”
These attacks have been going on for years, and Iran has never backed off the fact that it is backing these assaults, often applauding them in the media and on social media after they take place.
Trump recently announced that he would make a call sometime in the next two weeks if he wanted to carry out a strike against Iran, which would likely have to be approved by Congress.
Omar responded, "No one is attacking or has attacked Americans. It’s time to stop dragging Americans into war and letting Israel once again get America involved in their chosen war.
“Stand up for the Americans who believed you wanted peace and don’t commit another generation of Americans into a costly war.”
The fact of the matter is that the world cannot afford to have Iran go nuclear, so this goes far beyond just Israel. I will be the first to admit that I don’t want to see our boots on the ground, but if we need to deliver a bomb, and there is reason to believe we are the only country that is capable of delivering the big blow, then so be it. Iran cannot be permitted to develop a nuclear weapon, period.
