President Joe Biden's dangerous and deadly disaster at the southern U.S. border might get a smidgen of the attention it has deserved for several years now.
But according to an ex-Obama official, it's not because the current administration has suddenly decided it's a problem; rather, it's an optics play as the 2024 election nears.
According to Breitbart, John Sandweg, who served as acting ICE Director under President Obama, believes the Biden administration will make moves to reduce the horrific immigration numbers at the border in the wake of several Democrats -- namely high-profile mayors -- making noise about the situation on a national level.
Former acting ICE Director, John Sandweg, predicts that President Biden will change his approach to border policy as the 2024 election approaches. Sandweg believes that the administration is aware of the growing problem at the border and the concerns… https://t.co/iLtHdwJGEx

NewsNation Now host Nichole Berlie asked Sandweg if he believes the Biden administration will take measures to appear as if they're actually doing something about the border crisis as the election draws closer.
"Obviously, we have this election coming up in November. Do you think the administration’s approach at the border will change as we get closer to that election?" Berlie asked.
"I do. I do. I think, listen, with the Senate negotiations, they’re proposing some things that the historic allies of the White House — the immigration advocacy groups and others — really do oppose.
He added, "And I think the administration’s banking on this idea that, hey, this border’s now becoming a problem, when you have mayors of — Democratic mayors in New York and governors in California complaining about the burden that these migrants are putting on their communities, yeah, I think the administration’s going to — I think you’re going to see things change in the near future, because I think the administration realizes they’ve got to get a hold of the numbers at the border."
"These are just unsustainable numbers, and it will be interesting to see what the administration does."
It might be interesting to see what the Biden administration does, but it's also insulting to the American public, especially to Americans who've had to endure the dangers associated with the record influx of illegal migrants.
The numbers have been bad since Biden took office, especially since he reversed virtually all of former President Donald Trump's border policies.
Suddenly paying attention to the issue is inauthentic, at best, and downright low, at worst.
The American public have witnessed his border failures unfold to unprecedented levels, and now they suddenly want to do something about it when votes are at stake.
What a joke.
