Nikki Haley says Taylor Swift conspiracy theories are 'bizarre'

Taylor Swift's influence in the NFL has many fans upset, with many believing that her seemingly constant presence is an unnecessary distraction.

Those feelings have also led to attacks on Swift, and some Republican leaders and pundits have suggested that Swift, a die-hard liberal, could be part of an effort to boost President Joe Biden with an endorsement later this year.

But according to Business Insider, Swift has fans on the right, including former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.

During a recent CNN interview, Haley was questioned about the controversy surrounding Swift's inclusion in the NFL sphere, and Haley responded by wondering why that particular conversation seems to override national politics.

"I'm not going to lie. I don't know what the obsession is," Haley told CNN's Jake Tapper, noting that she's "allowed" to have a boyfriend.

"You know, to have a conspiracy theory of all of this is bizarre; nobody knows who she's going to endorse. But I can't believe that has overtaken our national politics," Haley said.

Swift is currently dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

While many have written off the idea that Swift is tied to any kind of political conspiracy theory, it was noted that a New York Times report from last month indicated that some of Biden's aides are working to grab an endorsement from the popular singer.

It wouldn't be the first time Swift would endorse Biden, as she did just before the 2020 election where she made her political feelings quite clear.

"I will proudly vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in this year's presidential election. Under their leadership, I believe America has a chance to start the healing process it so desperately needs," Swift said at the time.

One of the most notable Republicans to suggest that Swift will play a role in the 2024 election is former GOP candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.

Business Insider noted:

Four years later and with less than a year until the 2024 presidential election, GOP pundits and even former candidate Vivek Ramaswamy have begun suggesting Swift is more than just a singer: instead, they allege she's a government asset, and her much-covered relationship with Kansas City Chiefs' player Travis Kelce are artificial and "propped-up."

Only time will tell if Swift plays a role in the next election.
