Weston Cage, son of famed actor Nicolas Cage, was recently arrested for allegedly assaulting his mother, Christina Fulton, during a mental health crisis. This incident is part of a series of legal and personal challenges Weston has faced over the years.
The Daily Mail reported that Cage, 33, was apprehended on charges of assault with a deadly weapon after an altercation with Fulton, 57, escalated from a verbal dispute to physical violence.
The arrest took place on a Wednesday following the incident that occurred on April 28 in the Los Angeles area.
According to sources, Weston was not present when law enforcement arrived, and the case is being considered felony battery.
Weston was released on a $150,000 bail around 10 a.m., with reports stating that his father, Nicolas Cage, posted the bail. The circumstances leading to the incident involved a mental health crisis, as described by Christina Fulton.
The altercation began as a verbal dispute but quickly turned violent. An ambulance was called to the scene, although Fulton chose not to go to the hospital. At the time of the police's arrival, Weston was no longer present at the location.
Fulton was later seen with visible injuries, including a black eye and bruising. Despite the severity of the situation, she has been private about specific details and continues to emphasize Weston's mental health struggles.
Christina Fulton has denied any argument led to the physical encounter. "Weston and I had no argument prior to the incident," she said, underscoring the sudden and unexpected nature of the altercation.
She further elaborated that she was called by several of Weston's friends who expressed concern over his mental state. "On Sunday, April 28, I was reached out to by several of Weston's best friends for assistance because they were experiencing Weston in a mental-health crisis,” Fulton stated.
Fulton emphasized her ongoing support for her son, saying, "I have always supported helping my son with mental-health struggles. I am doing all I can to get him the continued support he needs."
Weston Cage has had a history of legal troubles. In 2017, he faced DUI and hit-and-run charges. Additionally, in 2011, he was arrested for domestic violence after an incident involving his then-wife, Nikki Williams.
Besides these criminal charges, Weston has dealt with significant mental health issues. He was hospitalized on a psychiatric hold for treatment in 2011 following another breakdown.
Christina Fulton and Nicolas Cage's relationship began in 1988, and they welcomed Weston in 1990 before separating within a year. Despite the separation, both parents have been involved in Weston's life and legal affairs.

Fulton explained her significant role in raising Weston and her frustration over the strained family dynamics. "I am the one that raised Weston. I am the one that took care of Weston. His dad was very busy out working as an actor," she commented.
According to Fulton, not being able to see her grandchildren has been particularly painful. "It is devastating not to see these kids. Nicolas and I haven’t been able to meet our two beautiful little granddaughters at all since they were born. We’re in a quiet, horrible nightmare. It’s insane, painful, hurtful, devastating," she remarked.
