Newsom’s ICE response impressing the liberal base

California Governor Gavin Newsom has been front and center in leading the resistance against Donald Trump’s ICE raids and the use of the National Guard to quell the riots.

While the people of Los Angeles may be upset about their city being burned down, liberals nationwide appear to be buying into Newsom’s act, and his popularity is on the rise.

Kamala’s Race to Lose, or Is It?

After Harris’ loss to Donald Trump in the 2024 election, the Democrat Party started to make excuses nearly as soon as the final vote was cast.

We were told Joe Biden did not step down early enough. Harris did not have enough time to mount a real campaign, etc. They seemed to forget two things. First, and the most important, is that Joe Biden won the primary election, and the argument could have easily been made that Harris being handed the nomination was unconstitutional.

Second, when Harris took over, she was almost immediately spotted a four-point cushion against Trump, but the more she showed her face and opened her mouth, the quicker Trump ate up that deficit.

After the election, Harris was installed as the 2028 favorite for the Democrat Party, but her numbers are already crashing, and much of that has to do with the way Gavin Newsom has become the poster child for the resistance against Donald Trump.

Who Will Lead?

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), who I believe is a dark horse for the Democrats in 2028, is already calling into question who will take the lead for the party heading into the next presidential election, but he is doing so in a way that is also promoting his own brand.

Khanna has regularly “excluded” himself from the question, but you can tell that he is starting to think that 2028 could be the time for some fresh blood to get into the race.

In the process, he has made sure that he has not alienated the most powerful people in the party, such as Governor Gretchen Whitmer, a 2028 hopeful herself, who took some lashings from the party over meeting with Trump.

For instance, when Khanna was asked about the meeting and how he thought it would impact her career, he responded, “Everyone has moments that they would rather not have, and I don’t think it’s going to impact her long term,” later adding that she would be a “formidable candidate.”

Gavin on the Rise

For my money, I believe Newsom is the clear favorite at this point, as he has taken to using WWE-style rhetoric to call out Trump and Tom Homan over the ICE raids, daring them to arrest him for blocking Trump from being able to use the Guard to quell the riots.

To that point, Democratic strategist Jamal Simmons stated, “While it’s been a horrible week for the country, Gov. Newsom has been a credible voice of so many people’s discontent and anxiety about Trump’s America.

“Democrats want people who can take on Donald Trump, and he is seen as someone who has been taking him on.”

The entire left has TDS, so Newsom standing tall against Trump is going to play right into their hands. The man has been horrible for California, more worried about how his hair looks than he is about the state of California, proving my point that elections these days are personality and beauty contests. I would bet dollars to donuts that the next set of polls that come out regarding the top Dem for the 2028 will show a significant rise in Newsom’s stock.
