Rep. Anthony D'Esposito (R-NY) is leading the charge to expel New York Republican Rep. George Santos.
The motion came Tuesday evening following the release of the report of the House Ethics Committee.

"The resolution was originally filed by House Ethics Committee Chairman Michael Guest (R-MS) nearly two weeks ago, but D'Esposito's move to expedite the process comes hours after two House Democrats filed their own privileged resolution to oust Santos," the Washington Examiner reported.
"However, the motion filed by Guest and noticed as privileged by D’Esposito will ultimately be the measure the House will vote on to expel Santos," it added.

"The increased push to expel Santos comes after the Ethics Committee released a scathing report that said Santos 'violated federal criminal laws,' and found that he used campaign funds on trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas, Botox, at the luxury brand Hermés and for purchases from OnlyFans, a subscription platform that is largely used for adult content," the Hill reported.
"Santos already survived two expulsion votes this year — one in May and another earlier this month — but the push to oust him this week has the best chance for success yet, as some lawmakers who backed the embattled congressman in the past now say they will vote to boot him," it continued.

"Rep. Nick LaLota, who supports Santos' removal, says the House Ethics Committee report condemning Santos is the game changer that could lead to 2/3 of the House to oust Santos," News 12 Long Island reported.
"Santos says he's tired of the drama, but at the same, he's leaning into it, telling the members who want to expel him quote, 'bring it on,'" it noted.
Santos is also under indictment on 23 federal charges, including wire fraud and identity theft.
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) reportedly spoke with Santos by phone last week to discuss options ahead of the moves by Republicans in the House.
The vote is now expected shortly, with Santos refusing to resign regardless of the pending decision.
