New discovery adds to tragedy of New Palestine train derailment

A new discovery of an undetonated blasting cap was found over a mile from the New Palestine, Ohio, train derailment that he believes is related to the burn.

The new discovery adds to concern over the way the government has responded to the toxic accident.

The details

"Returning to his home Feb. 9, Corbin found black debris resembling ash in his yard and on the roof of his house," the Western Journal reported.

"Then a neighbor brought him an undetonated blasting cap which Corbin said had landed in a nearby pasture," it added. "He thinks the cap was used in setting afire the vinyl chloride for the controlled burn."

Trump goes to Ohio

Former President Donald Trump arrived in East Palestine on Wednesday to meet with residents and deliver supplies.

Online videos show a massive delivery of bottled water offered for locals impacted by concerns about their water supply.

In contrast, President Joe Biden visited Ukraine's capital of Kyiv in a surprise visit this week to mark one year of Russia's invasion and America's support of Ukraine.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who ignored the train derailment when it first occurred, is scheduled to visit the Ohio town on Thursday, three weeks after the incident.

"Norfolk Southern President and CEO Alan Shaw has pledged to the East Palestine community that the company 'will stay here for as long as it takes to ensure your safety and to help East Palestine recover and thrive,'" according to the Blaze.

The events occur as Trump seeks a comeback bid against Biden in the 2024 presidential election. Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy have also entered the Republican race.

The new details in the Ohio train derailment add to the mystery surrounding the tragic event, while politicians seek an advantage in various responses to the local concern that has drawn the attention of the country.
