Natural gas supply pipe in Germany designed to break dependence on Russia allegedly sabotaged

German authorities are investigating possible sabotage of a natural gas supply pipe after finding holes drilled into it, Breitbart reported. German Federal Prosecutor’s Office said it has “suspicions of unconstitutional sabotage” after discovering the holes.

The nation had built the pipeline to source its energy grid with an independent supply. The 35-mile-long structure is able to carry gas that's been liquified for shipping and then reconstituted.

A floating terminal offshore receives this shipment and puts it through the pipelines to supply the nation with fuel. This new system was built because Germany had relied on imports from Russia like so many other European nations.

Unfortunately, several holes measuring approximately half an inch in diameter were discovered in November in that pipeline system. German authorities claimed these appear to have been "drilled" into them rather than any natural cause.

It's unclear who would have done this or why, but Gasunie, the Dutch-German energy company in control of the system, believes it to be a "third-party intervention." Germany's prosecutors are looking into this as an intentional act.

Some potential actors include environmentalist activists who have staged "heavy" protests over the pipeline.  However, it could also be related to the war between Russia and Ukraine, which, as it turned out, was the impetus for the pipeline's construction in the first place.

Former President Donald Trump had warned Germany about the energy bottleneck through Russia that would make it easy to cripple their economy at the whim of the adversarial nation. The sabotage of the Nord Stream natural gas pipelines that came in September 2022 proved that notion, CBS News reported.

A series of bombings carried out took a pipeline from Russia to Europe offline. President Joe Biden pointed the finger at Russia, which pointed one right back at the West.

"It was a deliberate act of sabotage and the Russians are pumping out disinformation and lies," Biden claimed at the time. "At the appropriate moment, when things calm down, we're going to be sending divers down to find out exactly what happened," he said.

"We don't know that yet exactly," he added. However, Russian President Vladimir Putin blamed the "Angl0-Saxons," first for imposing sanctions and then moving on to what he called "terror attacks" on Russia.

Putin said the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines was an attempt to "destroy European infrastructure." Despite Biden's strong words and accusations, Putin turned out to be partly correct.

An investigation into the matter revealed that it was done by Ukraine, possibly with Biden's blessing, or at least knowledge, The Atlantic reported. There's evidence Biden had intelligence knowledge that Ukraine was planning this operation beforehand.

This may not be related to the most recent instance of sabotage on an energy pipeline and it's possible the White House knows nothing about it. Still, they would no doubt feign surprise either way.

These problems happening in the world are a direct result of a weak America, thanks to a weak president. The enemies of freedom in the world are emboldened by his weakness, and the conflicts that have already erupted under Biden will only get worse the longer he's in office.
