Michelle Obama may be pressured into running for president

Former First Lady Michelle Obama may be feeling pressure to replace President Joe Biden on the Democrat Party's presidential ticket.

This comes after a recent survey found that Obama is Democratic voters' top choice to replace Biden.

The poll results

Rasmussen Reports released its latest poll last week. The poll made a couple of substantial findings. The New York Post reports:

About 48% of the Democratic voters polled said they approve of the party "finding another candidate to replace Joe Biden before the election in November,” compared to 38% who disapprove, said the Rasmussen Reports survey released Monday.

With that being said, the next question is who these Democratic voters want Biden to be replaced with, and the answer is Michelle Obama - albeit, not by a large margin.

The Post continues:

Obama, 60, led the group, receiving 20% support among a list of options that also included Vice President Kamala Harris, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, “none of the above” and “not sure.”

It ought to be noted that a plurality of Democratic voters - 27% - chose "none of the above."

Background

There are serious concerns about Biden's electability, and it's not just because he has a terrible approval rating and a terrible rating for his handling of key issues.

Rather, the chief concern seems to be about Biden's mental and physical capacity to lead the country for another four years. Biden could have eliminated this concern by taking a cognitive exam on his recent health checkup, but he declined to do so.

This all has led to significant speculation about replacing Biden on the Democratic Party's presidential ticket. One question is whether it will happen, and another question is, if it does happen, who is it going to be.

Michelle Obama has been one of the most talked about replacement candidates for Biden.

Will Obama replace Biden?

The former first lady has insisted that she will not - that she has no interest in running for the presidency or getting back involved in politics.

But, it has to be said that Obama's statement has not been that convincing. The New York Post, separately, points out that "Michelle Obama is very political. And always has been."

Just in January, in fact, Obama claimed that she was "terrified" about a possible victory by former President Donald Trump in the 2024 election."

Accordingly, it is not beyond the realm of possibility that she might feel pressured into taking on Trump in the general election. At the very least, she should not be counted out just yet.
