McCarthy warns of dangers of terrorists crossing southern U.S. border

Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) recently weighed in on the Israel/Hamas situation, warning that it's not out of the realm of possibility that a similar situation could take place in the United States thanks to President Joe Biden's lax border policies.

According to the Washington Examiner, McCarthy made the remarks during an interview on "Meet the Press."

It was noted that he also avoided questions about his possible return to the House speakership, as the United States government is somewhat hamstrung on what kind of aid it can deliver to Israel without a House Speaker.

McCarthy first commented on the sheer gravity of the situation that had unfolded over the weekend in Israel.

"This is devastating," McCarthy said. "Surprised, on a Jewish holiday ... 800 Israelis — that's equivalent to 30,000 Americans, and not only is it a terrorist attack. ... This is the equivalency of ISIS. Hamas has to be destroyed."

The Examiner noted:

After pointing to a report showing an uptick in arrests of people on the FBI terror watchlist crossing the U.S.-Mexico border, he declared, "We're vulnerable because there could be a cell in America today" capable of an attack akin to that of Hamas last Saturday.

Not surprisingly, the host of the liberal-leaning news show pushed back on the idea that terrorists could have crossed the border at some point, though data proves otherwise.

"Well, let me give you the evidence," he said.

He added, "So when I first went down to the border a number of years ago, and they told me they were catching people on the terrorist watch list, this administration said I was lying. And you know what? I wasn't lying ... there's people from 160 different countries coming across."

With a record number of illegal immigrants pouring across the border on Biden's watch, many believe that it's only a matter of time before bad actors emerge from the record number of illegal crossers, and choose to do harm against American citizens.

Under former President Donald Trump's watch, when border policies were much more secure than they are now, Americans didn't have to fear the possibility of such acts.

Only time will tell if McCarthy is proven right. Hopefully not.
