Zohran Mamdani continues to surprise people, and not necessarily in a good way.
The man is all over the place right now in trying to lock down votes in New York City.
Anyone with common sense can see he is playing the game, and while most liberals in New York City are zombies when it comes to voting, some of them are starting to wake up.
New York State Democratic Committee (NYSDC) Chairman Jay Jacobs will not be among those Democrats caving to pressure to endorse Mamdani, citing too many ideological differences.
He stated, "Mr. Mamdani and I are in agreement that America’s greatest problem is the continued growth of income disparity in our nation. On how to address it — we fundamentally disagree."
Oddly enough, he then ripped those who are “fearmongering” over a Mandani takeover of the city, saying that it was a “gross over-reaction” to his campaign.
But here’s the thing… even if you don’t see eye-to-eye on all things, but you believe people are overreacting, why not endorse with a disclaimer? Jacobs is talking out of both sides of his mouth, but then again, so is Mamdani.
You know someone is a true politician when they start pandering to the other side to draw in votes, and that is what Mamdani is doing.
When recently asked about emulating former leaders of the city, it appeared that Mamdani was throwing conservatives a bone by giving Rudy Giuliani a nod.
He stated, “Giuliani, for all my disagreements with him, also was a person who brought free public transit on the Staten Island Ferry. That’s also a history that our push for free bus transit is a part of.”
I don’t know if enough people will see through this act before election day, but there are some in his camp who are starting to wake up.
Saturday night at the Masjid Ansarudeen Islamic Center in the Bronx, Andrew Cuomo landed a shot that was heard very loudly in the Muslim community regarding a Mamdani policy that has not been well-publicized.
As a Muslim, Mamdani should not support the legalization of prostitution, but he does, vehemently so. Yet, the Muslim community is not aware of that, with one attendee stating, “Zohran will never, ever sponsor a bill that will legalize prostitution — as a Muslim brother. He will never, ever do that.”
Cuomo posted a video on X of the community pushing back on this, then added clips of Mandani saying that, as far as he is concerned, sex work is work, and he would support the legalization of prostitution.
This is clearly a hot topic in that community, so if Cuomo can get them to move away from Mamdani on this subject alone, he might just start to close that double-digit gap. As Trump proved, Cuomo does not need them to vote for him; he just needs them not to vote for Mamdani.
