Liz Cheney says she is willing to campaign for Democrats

Wyoming Republican Rep. Liz Cheney said she is willing to support Democrats in the upcoming election to stop Republicans.

Cheney shared the response at the Texas Tribune Festival in Austin on Saturday.

"Cheney's answer was her latest swipe at the GOP and its candidates. A lifelong Republican, Cheney has become increasingly critical of her party over the past year and a half after she voted to impeach Trump for his role in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol," the Hill reported.

"She's repeatedly lamented the former president's iron grip on the GOP and its hard-right direction, and is one of only two Republicans sitting on the House select committee charged with investigating the Jan. 6 riot," it added.

The news comes as the outgoing congresswoman was soundly defeated in her home state's Republican primary. Her final weeks in office are now being spent attacking her own party and former President Donald Trump, who has been out of office for nearly two years.

Cheney may believe her endorsement of Democrats will help, but many conservatives already see her as supporting the left and its agenda.
