Letitia James Pushing Gun Buybacks In New York Amid Rising Crime Wave

In an effort to combat gun violence, New York State Attorney General Letitia James hosted a significant gun buyback event on October 19 in Rochester.

WBNG reported that a total of 548 firearms were turned over by community members. This is the latest effort by James to prosecute the Democrat Party's campaign to strip the population of weapons even as crime is surging.

Among the surrendered items were 32 assault weapons, 306 handguns, and 152 long guns.

While Democrats hailed this buyback as a massive success, considering the thousands of weapons that are out there, Democrats are still far from accomplishing their goal of stripping Americans of their weapons.

Attorney General James

Attorney General Letitia James has been at the forefront of these measures since 2019, with her office successfully removing over 8,200 guns statewide.

James has been leading Democrats' efforts to disarm Americans both through buy-backs and authoritarian gun-grabbing measures.

As each new event unfolds, the support from local communities highlights the shared resolve to address gun violence.

"Gun buyback events empower local communities to remove unwanted firearms off our streets and out of our communities," James claimed, emphasizing the collaborative nature of these initiatives.

An earlier buyback event held in April 2023 in the Village of Johnson City saw 340 weapons turned in.

Democrats claim that these measures by different towns and cities across the state contribute to a safer New York. However, no criminals are selling their weapons in these buyback programs which means the root causes of crime are going unsolved.

The only people participating in these programs are usually misled law-abiding citizens who are now disarmed and unable to defend themselves from violent criminals who still have guns.

Focus on Safety and Prevention

"Every one of the guns collected today is another potential life saved and tragedy averted," James claimed, ignoring the fact that there are still thousands of armed criminals who will continue to commit crimes, especially with the knowledge that their victims are often unarmed.

Crime has continued to climb especially in America's urban centers thanks to leftists like Letitia James who refuse to lock up dangerous criminals.

Further exacerbating the issue is the influx of millions of illegal immigrants, many of whom are engaged in criminal activity. In some cases, many of these illegal immigrants are involved in transnational gangs.

As each gun is surrendered, the potential for future tragedies increases as criminals will only be emboldened to prey on an unarmed populace.

While responsible and safe gun ownership is important, the answer to the many tragedies that have struck the nation isn't disarming the population. It is likely that there will be more tragedies created than prevented by Letitia James's buyback programs.
