Another left-wing COVID tyrant has just been identified: Judge Charles Gilchrist, a nominee of former North Carolina Gov. Bev Purdue (D).
Fox News reports that Gilchrist recently sent a man to jail for refusing to wear a facemask in his courtroom.
That's bad enough. But, what's even more disturbing is that Gilchrist reportedly threw the man in jail despite the fact that there is no mandate requiring that facemasks be worn in his courthouse, the Harnett County Courthouse in Lillington.
The man who was put in jail is Gregory Hahn, a Navy Veteran who has served as a member of the President's Honor Guard at Arlington National Cemetery.
"I never thought I would show up to jury duty and end up behind bars," Hahn recently told the Fox News Channel's, Tucker Carlson.
Hahn further described what happened, saying:
We were in [an assembly room] for about 20 to 30 minutes, shoulder-to-shoulder, with three-quarters of us not wearing masks. So the virus – if there was virus out there – contaminated us anyway. So I was called when they called roll call, I made eye contact with the clerk, and she said, "I need you to come over here for not wearing the mask."
This led to an encounter with Gilchrist, who threatened Hahn with a $500 fine and a 30-day prison sentence for contempt of court for refusing to wear a facemask. Gilchrist ended up sending Hahn to jail for 24 hours, where Hahn says he wasn't even allowed to call his child, who is a minor.
Hahn noted that Gilchrist could have simply excused him since there were plenty of potential jurors and he had yet to be selected. But, it appears that Gilchrist preferred to use this opportunity to exercise his power over another individual.
The whole incident is extremely disturbing, to say the least.
