In a surprising political development, a new poll reveals broad Republican support for President Joe Biden's Supreme Court reform proposals.
The Hill reported that Biden’s Supreme Court reform plans have received significant backing across party lines, according to a recent poll. These "reforms" are designed to attack the conservative majority that has been a major obstacle for Biden.
Last month, President Biden introduced a comprehensive plan aimed at reforming the Supreme Court.
His proposals include a binding code of conduct for justices, 18-year term limits, and a constitutional amendment to reinforce that no one is above the law.
The proposed binding code of conduct targets several areas of concern. It would require justices to disclose any gifts they receive, abstain from engaging in political activities, and mandate recusal from cases where personal conflicts of interest may exist.

According to a USA Today/Ipsos poll, an impressive 70% of Republicans favor the proposed code of conduct. The poll, conducted from August 2-4, included 1,024 respondents and has a margin of error of 3.2 percentage points.
Moreover, more than half of the Republican respondents also support the term limits and constitutional amendment proposals, with 54% and 51% approval respectively.
Democratic and independent voters are even more supportive. Among Democrats, 89% endorse the code of conduct, and a similar proportion supports the constitutional amendment.
Independents showed substantial support as well, with 75% backing the code of conduct and 72% the constitutional amendment. The overall support for term limits stands at 63% across all respondents.
President Biden announced these reforms at the LBJ Presidential Library, invoking the principles of transparency and accountability. He cited recent Supreme Court rulings, such as the 2013 Shelby County case, the 2022 decision overturning Roe v. Wade, and the 2023 ruling ending affirmative action, as motivations behind his push for reform.

"What’s happening now is not consistent with that doctrine of separation of powers. Extremism is undermining the public confidence in the court’s decisions," Biden remarked, highlighting the urgency of the situation.
