Kari Lake discusses Trump VP possibilities

Aside from his legal issues, all eyes are on who former President Donald Trump will pick to run with him in the 2024 presidential election.

Luckily for Republicans, the bench is arguably deeper this cycle than in modern U.S. history. Trump has a plethora of viable candidates he could choose and probably emerge with an easy victory next year.

Many believe that Trump will ultimately pick a female running mate for obvious reasons -- the female vote is critical in any election, especially the next one, and a female vice president would be an attractive offering for many voters.

Former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake has been floated as a possibility, and she was recently asked by conservative commentator Charlie Kirk if she would accept the call.

Like most potential VP picks, she danced around the question before saying she would fully support anyone Trump chooses.

However, there seemed to be one glaring exception to that support, which is former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.

Haley, in recent days, has been pushed hard as a potential Trump VP pick. Politically, it makes sense in the polls, as Haley is the only GOP opponent with any kind of momentum left at this point. The fact that she's a woman also helps.

However, many in Trump's large base of support are very much not fans of the former governor and UN ambassador, and continue to make that clear across social media on a daily basis.

For her part, Lake said she doesn't believe Trump will pick Haley, adding, "I think that he would pick anybody over her."

Lake added, "I think that she has gone over to the dark side. She's part of the warmonger movement. The Republican Party, you know, I've got a big alert to tell everybody, is no longer the party of the warmonger."

Kirk made it clear after Lake's response that he's not a fan of Haley's, either.

"I know some people that were lobbying very hard the other day. I just want President Trump to come out and say decisively, ‘No, I'm not gonna pick Nikki Haley.’"

Only time will tell who Trump selects, and it'll be the biggest news story of the cycle when it breaks.
