Kamala Harris refuses to say whether Biden will debate Trump

Vice President Kamala Harris refuses to say whether or not President Joe Biden will debate former President Donald Trump.

She refused to answer the question during an interview that she did Friday on NBC News' NBC Nightly News.

There, NBC News chief White House correspondent Peter Alexander said, "Mr. Trump has challenged the president to debate him any time, anywhere, any place."

Alexander then asked Harris, "Will President Biden commit to debating Donald Trump?"

Harris's answer

Harris, as politicians often do, did not answer the question, but, rather, she went off on a tangent.

"I haven’t talked to the president about that yet, but I will tell you something, if you want to look at the split screen to understand what is at stake," Harris began.

She continued:

On the one hand, you’ve got Joe Biden, someone who is competent, who is principled, who has accomplished more than many presidents even hoped for - be it on infrastructure, on climate, on health care. On the other side of that split screen, you’ve got the former president [Trump], who glorifies dictators and has said he’ll be a dictator on day one. Someone who has said that he will weaponize the Department of Justice against his political enemies. The split screen is clear.

Alexander then tried to approach the subject from a different angle, asking, "Should President Biden debate him in your view?"

"That is a choice. This is going to be decided upon soon, and we will keep you posted," Harris said.

Then, Alexander tried one last time, asking her, "Will you commit to a debate," to which Harris replied, "Peter, we just got through the State of the Union. And I’m just so excited about what we accomplished last night and our president."

Yikes!

Harris was eventually let off the hook. But, the question of whether Biden will debate Trump is not going away. Americans are especially eager to see Biden debate giving widespread concerns about his physical and mental fitness.

Trump, who, after a big Super Tuesday, is clearly going to be the Republican Party's presidential nominee, has said in no uncertain terms that he wants to debate Biden.

"It is important for the Good of our Country, that Joe Biden and I Debate issues that are so vital to American, and the American people. Therefore, I am calling for Debates, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANYPLACE!" Trump recently said.

Biden, however, is clearly not eager to face off against Trump.

When recently asked about whether he will do so, Biden said, "It depends on [Trump's] behavior." In other words, Biden doesn't want to debate because he can't and he wants to deflect the conversation onto Trump.
