Former Vice President Kamala Harris just unleashed a fiery tirade against President Donald Trump that’s got everyone talking.
The New York Post reported that on a recent podcast appearance, Harris tore into Trump for pushing ahead with a glitzy White House renovation while a government shutdown looms, threatening vital food aid for struggling families.
On Oct. 30, 2025, Harris joined host Jon Stewart on “The Weekly Show” podcast, where she didn’t hold back her frustration over Trump’s latest pet project.
Earlier, on Oct. 20, 2025, construction was spotted tearing down parts of the White House East Wing to make way for a new ballroom, a project Trump seems particularly proud of.
The President even rolled out blueprints and seating charts, showcasing plans for a space reportedly costing a whopping $300 million, all funded by private donors, according to White House statements.
While Trump’s vision might dazzle his well-heeled pals, Democrats are up in arms, arguing this luxury overhaul couldn’t come at a worse time.
Meanwhile, a federal government shutdown is putting critical programs like SNAP food aid on the chopping block, leaving countless families in limbo.
Senate Democrats, for their part, voted for the 13th time on a recent Tuesday to keep the government shuttered, failing to reopen it in a tight 54-45 tally.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune offered a straightforward fix, saying, “The simplest way to end it and the simplest way to make sure that people are getting the food assistance they need is to pick up the bill and give us five votes,” as reported by The Post.
Harris, never one to mince words, let her exasperation boil over on the podcast, declaring, “This guy wants to create a ballroom for his rich friends while completely turning a blind eye to the fact that babies are going to starve when the SNAP benefits end in just hours from now. Come on,” as aired on “The Weekly Show.”
Her point stings, but let’s be fair—Trump’s ballroom isn’t draining taxpayer dollars, with private donors footing the bill.
Still, the optics of demolition dust flying while families face empty pantries aren’t exactly a winning look for a leader promising to put America first.
Harris also snapped, “Are you f‑‑king kidding me?” during the podcast, a raw outburst that captures the raw nerve this issue has struck. While her language might raise eyebrows, it’s hard to deny the frustration many feel when glitz seems to trump grit.
Now, let’s not pretend government shutdowns are Trump’s invention—both parties have played this brinkmanship game for decades, and Senate Democrats aren’t exactly rushing to compromise either.
But when a ballroom becomes the shiny object of attention, it’s easy to see why critics like Harris are sounding the alarm.
Thune’s call for just five votes to break the deadlock and secure food assistance is a reminder that solutions exist if politics can take a backseat.
On the flip side, Trump’s focus on a donor-funded project, while not illegal or even fiscally reckless, risks signaling a disconnect from the everyday struggles of Americans who don’t get invited to ballroom galas.
