Judge blocks Trump on wind farm projects

When Joe Biden was in office, as you all know, he made a monstrous green energy push.

On his way out the door, Biden pushed through several new wind projects, which Trump has been trying to block, but once again, a judge has jumped in to stop him.

Another Wind Project Approved

During the waning days of the Biden administration, the 11th wind project was announced by Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland.

She stated, “When we walked in the door of this Administration, there were zero approved, commercial-scale offshore wind projects in federal waters. Today, I am proud to celebrate our 11th approval, a testament to the commitment and enduring progress made by the hardworking public servants at the Department of the Interior.

“With President Biden’s leadership through the Investing in America agenda, we are addressing the climate crisis, creating jobs, and building an enduring economy that supports all communities.”

As these projects were being approved, Donald Trump was already picking fights on Truth Social, and he would look to dismantle these projects as soon as he took office.

Block Them

One of the very first orders signed by Trump after he took his oath of office was to pull back on wind projects.

His order stated, “This withdrawal temporarily prevents consideration of any area in the OCS for any new or renewed wind energy leasing for the purposes of generation of electricity or any other such use derived from the use of wind.

“This withdrawal does not apply to leasing related to any other purposes such as, but not limited to, oil, gas, minerals, and environmental conservation.”

The full order was posted on January 20, 2025, and you can read it in full (click here).

Denied Again

As soon as Trump filed that order, a large group of Democrats pushed to fight back against the order, and they just had their motion granted.

Judge William G. Young, a Ronald Reagan appointee, sided with the Democrats on this one, refusing to allow Trump’s request to have the case dismissed.

The only concession Young made was that he removed everyone as defendants except for the Secretary of the Interior, Doug Burgum.

Young agreed with the plaintiffs that they had standing in the case, which the Trump administration had argued they did not. So, the case will proceed, and now the American taxpayer gets hit with yet another legal bill defending a Trump executive order. DOGE may be saving some money, but I cannot wait to see the costs of all these legal suits.
