President Joe Biden appears to be considering abandoning Israel as pressure is mounting from Muslim leaders in America who have threatened to withdraw support from Biden's 2024 campaign.
CNN reported that "Biden, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Antony Blinken – who departed Thursday for Israel with a message on protecting civilian lives – have all explicitly pressed the case in recent private conversations with the Israelis, telling them that eroding support will have dire strategic consequences for Israel Defense Forces operations against Hamas."
This is all in response to a letter from Muslim leaders titled the “2023 Ceasefire Ultimatum,” that threatens the complete withdrawal of support from Biden and the Democrat Party unless a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas is declared.
The letter began saying, "We pledge to mobilize Muslim, Arab, and allied voters to withhold endorsement, support, or votes for any candidate who did not advocate for a ceasefire and endorse the Israeli offensive against the Palestinian people."
Now President Biden is being forced between supporting one of America's closest allies, or losing the Muslim vote.
This war between Israel and the terrorist organization Hamas has created a nightmare scenario that has forced Biden into a corner.
The ultimatum from the Muslim community continued by saying, "We will mobilize increased voter turnout to make our voices heard. The State of Michigan, in the 2020 election, was decided by a mere 2.6 percent margin of victory and holds 16 crucial electoral votes. We emphasize the significance of Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, Florida, Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee, where many of our voters reside."
The Muslim community understands that while their community is small in terms of total population, their distribution in the context of the electoral college has given them a massive bargaining chip.
The Biden administration has taken multiple steps in order to appease the Muslim community.
Just days after the ultimatum, Vice President Kamala Harris announced the National Strategy to Counter Islamophobia saying, “Taking on hate is a national priority. Today, @POTUS and I are announcing the country’s first National Strategy to Counter Islamophobia. This action is the latest step forward in our work to combat a surge of hate in America."
However, it seems unlikely that the Muslim community will buy into pandering with tensions so high over the war in Israel.
The possibility of the Muslim community ditching the Democrat Party and simply not participating in the 2024 election is increasingly possible. Should that happen, it could cost Democrats key swing states, especially Michigan.
However, should Biden completely acquiesce to the Muslim community, it will create tensions between Democrats and Jewish-Americans.
Many Jews in America watched on in horror as terrorists butchered hundreds of civilians. Many knew people connected to the massacre and any sign of the Biden administration bowing down to terrorists will be met with serious push-back.
