President Joe Biden once again snubbed his granddaughter, Navy Joan Roberts, when speaking publicly about his family, Fox News reported. The five-year-old is the illegitimate daughter of the president's son, Hunter Biden, and ex-stripper Lunden Alexis Roberts.
Joe Biden has sold himself as a family man and doting grandfather. However, when it comes to Navy, he and his wife, First Lady Jill Biden, have repeatedly ignored her existence.
The most recent instance came during a speech he made Monday at the White House commemorating Women's History Month. "I see a future for all Americans, a future for my daughter and my four granddaughters — by the way, they’re incredible," Joe Biden said.
Unfortunately, Joe Biden has made it clear Navy doesn't count as one of his grandchildren. The 81-year-old has five granddaughters among his total of seven grandchildren.
The White House Christmas decorations reflected that mindset surrounding Navy. In the White House State Dining Room, a mantle display of stockings for each of his grandchildren did not include one for Navy in 2021 or 2022. In 2023, they simply abolished the practice altogether after the public noticed the oversight.
Throughout his presidency, there has been one notable exception where Joe Biden acknowledged Navy. After facing public pressure last July and charges of favoritism toward his other legitimate grandchildren, the president spoke of Navy publicly as his granddaughter.
"Our son Hunter and Navy’s mother, Lunden, are working together to foster a relationship that is in the best interests of their daughter, preserving her privacy as much as possible going forward," Joe Biden told Fox News in a statement on July 28. "This is not a political issue; it’s a family matter," he added.
"Jill and I only want what is best for all of our grandchildren, including Navy," Joe Biden said. It's clear from this week's events that the sentiment has already faded since then.
As disturbing as it is for the president and first lady to shun their granddaughter, the problem originates with Hunter Biden. The younger Biden repeatedly denied being Navy's father.
However, a DNA test in 2019 proved that the girl was indeed his daughter. That didn't stop Hunter Biden from fighting to lower the amount of child support that he would pay.
Hunter Biden also got his wish that Navy would not bear the Biden last name despite the indisputable connection. The 54-year-old ex-drug addict seems content to distance himself from his child and her mother.
According to CNN, Joe and Jill Biden were "following Hunter Biden's wishes" when they decided to leave her out of public discussions and, therefore, were unwilling to go against him. "It’s hard to do that without throwing your son under the bus," a person close to the matter said.
It's not fair that the child should pay for the sins of her father. The Bidens portray themselves as a tight-knit family, but their treatment of Navy proves otherwise.
