Joe Biden gives in and will acknowledge seventh grandchild, Navy Joan Roberts, after massive uproar

President Joe Biden and his wife Jill finally acknowledged their seventh grandchild, Navy Joan Roberts, as part of the family, Breitbart reported. The four-year-old is the daughter of the president's son Hunter Biden and ex-stripper Lunden Roberts.

"Our son Hunter and Navy’s mother, Lunden, are working together to foster a relationship that is in the best interests of their daughter, preserving her privacy as much as possible going forward," Joe Biden told People Magazine in an article published Friday. "This is not a political issue; it’s a family matter," he added.

"Jill and I only want what is best for all of our grandchildren, including Navy," Joe Biden said. This is a complete departure from the way he has handled this "family matter" since the child's birth.

Prior to Friday's admission, the president repeatedly overlooked Navy when speaking about his family. "I have six grandchildren," he said in April during an event at the White House.

"And I’m crazy about them. I speak to them every single day, not a joke," Joe Biden said.

Biden has also left Navy out of the White House Christmas display for the past two years, according to the Daily Signal. Each of his six legitimate grandchildren had a stocking hung for them, but not Navy.

The president has done all of this, already aware that Navy was indeed related to him. Hunter Biden had initially denied being her father, but a 2019 paternity test proved it to be a fact.

The Biden family likely didn't want to acknowledge Navy because she was conceived out of wedlock between Hunter Biden and a stripper. The younger Biden had met Roberts in a Washington, D.C., strip club in 2017 and subsequently employed her at his law firm.

This questionable arrangement occurred during the time that Hunter Biden was carrying on with Hallie Biden, the widow of his deceased brother. However, many people agree that the sins of the father should not be held against the child.

Pulitzer Prize-winning author and former New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd recently wrote a scathing piece about the first family's unwillingness to take ownership of Navy. "My sister and I often disagree about politics, but this is not a political issue to us," she began. It’s a human one," Dowd wrote.

"Joe Biden’s mantra has always been that 'the absolute most important thing is your family.' It is the heart of his political narrative," she continued.

"Empathy, born of family tragedies, has been his stock in trade. Callously scarring Navy’s life, just as it gets started, undercuts that," Dowd pointed out.

While it seems the Bidens have finally accepted their new granddaughter, Navy won't get to truly be a Biden. According to the terms of a court agreement reached in June, Lunden Roberts has given up on that request after Hunter Biden fought to to keep the child from receiving his influential last name, Fox News reported.

Joe and Jill Biden finally did the right thing by Navy and the rest of their family. Perhaps it's better late than never, but it's still an awful thing to do to a child.
