Joe Biden calls out 6-year-old child during event: 'I love your ears'

President Joe Biden gave an odd comment to a 6-year-old girl Sunday, saying, "I love your ears."

The strange remark occurred during a "Friendsgiving Dinner" event with military service members over the weekend.

The background

"Biden and the First Lady participated in a Friendsgiving dinner with service members and military families from the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower and USS Gerald R. Ford," the Daily Caller reported.

"As part of the White House’s Joining Forces Initiative, Biden spoke to attendees thanking them for their service and highlighting his son, Beau Biden, who had served in the army," it added.

The video

"President Joe Biden notices a small girl in the crowd and runs over to tell her that he likes her ears," Collin Rugg shared alongside the video of the incident.

Biden: “I love your ears. I love them. They're really cool. What's your name?”

An ongoing issue

The incident adds to an ongoing number of gaffes by Biden during his time as president.

"One of Biden’s most egregious offences came after he went asking for US Congresswoman Jackie Walorski, a Republican representative for Indiana. Jackie, however, had tragically been killed in a car accident eight weeks previously," the Mirror reported.

"He asked from the podium at a White House conference: 'Representative Jackie — are you here? Where’s Jackie? I think she was going to be here.' This despite the fact that he had released a lengthy statement mourning her death," it noted.

Biden, now 81, is already the oldest serving president in the nation's history. He would be 86 at the end of a second term, leading to many concerns over his health in his reelection run.

Incidents like the one Sunday with the 6-year-old child only add to questions, with a growing number of Americans hoping for another leader following the next election in 2024.
