The incident adds to an ongoing number of gaffes by Biden during his time as president.
"One of Biden’s most egregious offences came after he went asking for US Congresswoman Jackie Walorski, a Republican representative for Indiana. Jackie, however, had tragically been killed in a car accident eight weeks previously," the Mirror reported.
"He asked from the podium at a White House conference: 'Representative Jackie — are you here? Where’s Jackie? I think she was going to be here.' This despite the fact that he had released a lengthy statement mourning her death," it noted.
Biden, now 81, is already the oldest serving president in the nation's history. He would be 86 at the end of a second term, leading to many concerns over his health in his reelection run.
Incidents like the one Sunday with the 6-year-old child only add to questions, with a growing number of Americans hoping for another leader following the next election in 2024.
