Jill Biden lands new job with California think tank focused on women's health

Jill Biden, previously the First Lady of the United States, is embarking on a new journey as she assumes the role of chair at the Milken Institute's Women’s Health Network.

Fox News reported that Biden is set to lead initiatives aimed at improving women's health at a California-based economic think tank.

Biden's new position places her at the helm of a specialized arm of the Milken Institute, a nonpartisan think tank headquartered in Santa Monica, California.

The institute is recognized for addressing global challenges by focusing on financial, physical, mental, and environmental well-being. Her new role will have her leading efforts to bolster participation, collaboration, and collective action to enhance women's health and wellness.

Milken Institute Tackles Global Challenges

This milestone in Biden’s career was marked by her participation in the 28th annual Global Conference in Beverly Hills, California, organized by the Milken Institute.

The gathering attracted several notable personalities, such as Scott Bessent, Tony Blair, and Mehmet Oz. Here, Jill Biden's expertise in advocating for women's health was prominently showcased.

During her time as First Lady, Jill Biden played a crucial role in leading the White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research. In 2023, then-President Joe Biden issued a memorandum that set this initiative in motion. Jill Biden’s active participation in this cause has been central to elevating the discussion around vital health-related issues affecting women.

Jill Biden underscored the importance of distinguishing research data between the sexes and securing adequate funding dedicated to women's health.

Her advocacy helped secure $1 billion for women's health research, a significant achievement during her tenure. Her dedication to the cause is clear through her statement: "From endometriosis to healthy aging, the White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research made important investments in research and development."

In a statement released by the Milken Institute, it was announced on April 29, 2025, that Jill Biden would formally step into her role as the head of its Women’s Health Network.

Jill Biden expressed her enthusiasm about this new opportunity: "I am honored to join the Milken Institute as we unite leaders around a shared mission: for women everywhere to benefit from the lifesaving, world-changing research we know is possible."

Before undertaking her new position, Jill Biden concluded her teaching stint at Northern Virginia Community College in December 2024. Her background as an educator and her prominent role in public service highlight her commitment to making a difference in public health and education.

Reflecting on her tenure as First Lady, Jill Biden remarked on the initiatives undertaken through the federal government to advance women's research: "So one of the things we did was we got to work right away, and Joe said, 'You know, let's infuse – really, the federal government with money.' In one year, we put in $1 billion to advance women's research."

Engagement With Global Thought Leaders

The Milken Institute is poised to harness Jill Biden’s experience in forging new partnerships and driving significant progress in women's health. Her role is designed to galvanize leaders and stakeholders from different sectors to collaborate for the greater good of women globally.

As the chair, her objective is to amplify the institute's mission by steering collaborations that bring about measurable change.

This new chapter for Jill Biden comes against the backdrop of the media and public scrutiny faced by the Biden administration concerning President Joe Biden's cognitive abilities and age. Amidst these challenges, Jill Biden’s new role reflects her continued dedication to service and advocacy.

As she takes on this influential position, Jill Biden is set to bridge leadership with pragmatic action, driving efforts decidedly focused on women’s health. Her connection to her former advocacy roles positions her uniquely to continue enhancing research and development in the sector.

As part of the Milken Institute’s mission, Jill Biden will be critical in navigating complex health issues, ensuring that women across the globe can access the benefits of groundbreaking research. With her leadership, the initiative aims to push boundaries, ensuring that innovations in women’s health are not just conceptual but are implemented effectively on the ground.
