The Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist group misfired a rocket that destroyed a Gaza hospital, according to the Israeli Defense Forces.
The explosion was initially blamed on Israel's rocket, with the IDF soon releasing evidence showing that the rocket did not belong to them.

"The explosion, which reportedly killed hundreds of people, sparked outrage, with Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas pulling out of a meeting Wednesday with U.S. President Joe Biden over the issue," Breitbart News reported.
"Biden has backed Israel’s war of self-defense against the Hamas terror group, which rules Gaza and which killed over 1,400 Israelis in a massive terror attack on October 7," it added.

"From the analysis of the operational systems of the IDF, an enemy rocket barrage was carried out towards Israel, which passed through the vicinity of the hospital when it was hit," Israel shared.
"According to intelligence information, from several sources we have, the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization is responsible for the failed shooting that hit the hospital," the report continued.

"Israeli Military spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari told reporters rockets fired by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad militant group passed by the hospital at the time of the strike, which he said hit the facility's parking lot," Reuters reported.
"Another spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Jonathan Conricus, told CNN the military intercepted a conversation in which militants acknowledged a misfire. He said the military would release a recording of the conversation," it noted.
Reports have claimed anywhere from 300 to 500 people were killed in the tragic blast, with unverified videos online of children and adults injured along with dead bodies spreading rapidly since the tragedy.
The news comes as Israel has warned people in Gaza to flee ahead of planned retaliation attacks against Hamas over its terror attacks just over a week ago.
The fighting is expected to continue but Israel has shown that the latest destruction of a Gaza hospital was not due to its efforts.
