Jeanine Pirro sworn in as interim US Attorney

Some names just send a bit of a shiver up the spine of Democrats, and one of these names is Judge Jeanine Pirro, formerly of Fox News.

Well, my friends, Pirro has officially been sworn in as the acting US Attorney in DC..

Replacing Ed

The position filled by Pirro was supposed to be filled by longtime Trump loyalist Ed Martin.

Trump wanted Martin in DC as the top prosecutor, but even members of the GOP could not get behind this nomination, largely due to Martin’s role in the January 6 rally and his defense of numerous people brought up on charges from their role in the riot.

Trump was not happy that he had to pull the nomination, but he vowed to fill the post quickly, stating, “He is a terrific person. He wasn’t getting the support. I’m very disappointed in that. I’m one person. I can only lift that little phone so many times in a day.

“We have somebody else that will be great.”

Ed moves on

Trump wanted to give Martin a home, so he made him the Justice Department’s pardon attorney, which possibly explains some of the recent pardons that Trump has issued.

A former classmate of Trump’s, Peter Ticktin, sent a stack of pardons over to Martin for review as soon as he was given the new role, stating, “I know Ed Martin and I felt it was important to bring these particular applications to his attention.”

Trump has pardoned most of the January 6 rioters, but now it would appear the remaining  Proud Boys' members Joseph Biggs, Ethan Nordean, Zachary Rehl, and Dominic Pezzola have submitted new applications to Martin.

I would say they have a pretty good chance based on the fact that Martin represented rioters as well as raising money for their defense funds since 2021.

Pirro sworn in

While Martin had little support among the GOP, Jeanine Pirro is likely to get pushed through by Republicans whether she has Democrat support or not.

Pirro was a no-nonsense attorney and judge, and she made that clear after her swearing in ceremony, stating, "We need to send a message that justice will be honored in the District of Columbia. My voice should be heard loud and clear: No more. No more tolerance of hatred. No more mercy for criminals.

"Violence will be addressed directly with the appropriate punishment, and this city will again become a shining city on a hill in an America that President Trump has promised to make great again and will make safe again.”

I have always liked Pirro and I don’t think most people realize how impressive her resume is. And yes, she does have some baggage that comes with her, but in this day and age, just about everyone does. My main concern is that she cleans up DC, and I think her attitude is exactly what is needed to make that happen.
