JD Vance Blasts Kamala Harris Over Economic Policies, Blames Her For High Food Costs

Sen. JD Vance launched a sharp critique of Vice President Kamala Harris, accusing her of failing to deliver on key campaign promises and implementing policies that have worsened economic conditions.

Fox News reported that speaking on "The Ingraham Angle" on Tuesday, Vance argued that Harris, despite holding office for over three years, has not made any significant improvements in areas she is now campaigning to address.

Vance targeted Harris for contributing to rising food prices and maintaining what he described as a poorly controlled southern border.

He further questioned why Harris was waiting to enact certain policies she claims will benefit Americans, given her current role as vice president.

Harris Defends Economic Performance Amid Criticism

In response to these accusations, Harris has defended the Biden-Harris administration’s economic recovery efforts since the COVID-19 pandemic.

During an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash, Harris pointed to significant job growth and a reduction in inflation under their leadership. However, she acknowledged that challenges remain, particularly with regard to the cost of living.

"We had to recover as an economy, and we have done that," Harris said in defense of her administration’s record. "There’s more to do, but that’s good work."

Vance dismissed Harris’s defense, arguing that her policies, including a proposed $25,000 subsidy for first-time homebuyers and price controls on groceries, are unrealistic and ineffective. He labeled these initiatives as "pro-globalism" and "anti-American worker," insisting that they would do little to address the concerns of working families.

Former President Donald Trump joined Vance in attacking Harris’s economic proposals, characterizing them as socialist in nature. At a recent campaign event, Trump ridiculed Harris’s plan to implement price controls on food, calling it a failed policy that has never worked in the past.

"Comrade Kamala announced that she wants to institute socialist price controls," Trump said. "You saw that never worked before — never, ever worked."

Despite the criticism, Harris remains firm in her approach, continuing to promote her vision for tackling high living costs, which includes a $6,000 child tax credit for families and a broader plan for economic stability.

Vance Discusses Campaign Strategy, Disregards Polls

While discussing his own campaign, Vance emphasized the importance of engaging directly with voters.

He shared his preference for meeting people face-to-face and giving unscripted remarks over relying on teleprompters or pre-prepared speeches.

"My approach to this is just to get out there and meet as many people as possible," Vance said. He noted that this strategy aligns with Donald Trump’s, as both candidates prioritize connecting with voters on a personal level.

Vance also expressed confidence in the upcoming election, despite polling averages that show him with a 44% unfavorable rating compared to 34% favorable. "I don't put much stock in the polls," he said. "What I put stock in is the wisdom of the American people."

With 65 days left before the election, Vance remains focused on his strategy of meeting voters and making his case in person. He voiced confidence that he and Trump will be successful, emphasizing the importance of hard work over the next two months.

"We just have to do our work, and we've got 65 days to do it," Vance said.

As the election approaches, both Vance and Harris will continue to promote their contrasting visions for the country’s future, with the economy and cost of living remaining central issues in the debate.
