Jay Leno Suffers Serious Injuries After Falling Down Hill Near Hotel

Comedian Jay Leno faced a severe accident over the weekend, sustaining multiple injuries after a fall.

CNN reported that Leno claimed he fell down a steep hill, resulting in injuries including a broken wrist and severe bruising.

The incident occurred while Leno, 74, was walking to a dinner venue near his hotel outside Pittsburgh.

He decided against taking the recommended route, opting instead for a hillside shortcut.

His choice led to a dramatic 60-foot tumble that caused significant facial and bodily bruising to his left side. The fall also resulted in a broken wrist and the loss of a fingernail.

Leno's Grit and Determination Shine Through

Despite the ordeal, the renowned comedian performed just three hours later. He only sought medical attention after returning to Los Angeles, a testament to his resilience.

"I'm all black and blue," Leno revealed to "Inside Edition," showing the extent of his injuries on camera. His eye was so swollen it was shut, requiring a patch to cover it.

Leno shared his experience of the fall with TMZ, explaining, "The hill doesn’t look that steep – about 60, 70 feet. Let me see if I can down there… (he screams) and then I fell down, boom, boom, boom."

This accident is the latest in a series of misfortunes for Leno, who had previously endured severe burns in a garage fire in November 2022 and suffered multiple fractures in a motorbike collision shortly thereafter.

Reflecting on his recurring accidents, Leno joked about his age, "The great thing about this age is that you don’t learn by your mistakes – you just keep doing the same stupid things."

Despite these challenges, Leno remains committed to his comedic career and charitable endeavors.

He is scheduled to perform at a charity event for the burns hospital that treated him after his 2022 injuries.

Leno's Unwavering Spirit Amidst Adversity

Leno's accident occurred while staying at a Hampton Inn located about 30 miles from Pittsburgh. He was heading out for dinner when he chose the ill-fated shortcut.

After the incident, Leno performed at his scheduled event, only later revealing the severity of his injuries upon his return to Los Angeles.

"It isn’t a big deal, it’s alright," Leno stated post-fall, downplaying the severity but highlighting his perseverance and light-hearted approach to life's hurdles.
