During Donald Trump’s first term, it was obvious that there were rogue elements in the administration working against the president.
We are now learning that one of the biggest investigations during Trump’s term was derailed.
A whistleblower has come forward to reveal some very disturbing information about the investigation into the Clinton Foundation.
In January 2018, it was announced that an investigation had been launched into the Clinton Foundation.
The foundation had long been thought to have arisen as a conduit for a pay-to-play scheme by the Clintons, and based on the foundation's biggest donors, it appeared that was not all conspiracy theory.
The Clinton camp was outraged at the notion, responding, "The goal is to distract from the indictments, guilty pleas, and accusations of treason from Trump's own people at the expense of our justice system's integrity. It's disgraceful, and should be concerning to all Americans."
So, here is that theme again. Investigate conservatives, including Donald Trump, emphasize that nobody is above the law. Investigate a Democrat, claim that democracy is at stake, and insist that everyone should be outraged.
As that investigation was taking place, there were more eyes on the Clinton Foundation than ever.
What officials found was a rather disturbing trend of declining donations once the Clintons were no longer in the government and in a position to influence policy.
We would expect donations to go down a smidge, but in 2017, donations reportedly fell by 57.8%, in what conservatives saw as a major red flag.
Once again, though, “experts” tried to explain this away, with Leslie Lenkowsky, an emeritus professor at Indiana University, stating, "Mrs. Clinton had a chance at becoming president. Since then, she lost. She's likely out of public life. [Bill Clinton's] reputation has been damaged by the fallout of the #MeToo movement, so the organization's not as attractive as it once was. Success isn't going to be with you all the time, and the endowment will at least give you a bit of a cushion."
The investigation ultimately came up short, and conservatives were stunned, but we are now finding out why.
A new report has surfaced that the IRS shut down the investigation after significant documentation was provided by John Moynihan, a retired Drug Enforcement Agency financial crimes analyst, and Larry Doyle, a corporate tax compliance expert.
An email was obtained by Just the News, showing that the IRS cut off communications, telling the two men, “Can’t talk about the CF.” The IRS eventually halted the investigation after the whistleblowers had claimed, “There is probable cause that the Clinton Foundation has run afoul of IRS rules regarding tax-exempt charitable organizations and has acted inconsistently with its stated purpose. The Foundation should be investigated for all of the above-mentioned improprieties. The tax rules, codes, statutes and the rule of law should and must be applied in this case.”
I would love to see Trump reopen this probe, but the reality of the situation is that if he does, the media will cry weaponization, when it was a rogue element inside the Trump administration that allowed Hillary off the hook before the corruption could be thoroughly investigated. To be honest, calling D.C. a swamp is falling way short of what has infected our government.
