According to reports, Hunter Biden could face up to 25 years in prison and a $750,000 fine after Special Counsel David Weiss filed three gun-related offenses against him.

Weiss, who was nominated by two Democratic senators and offered Hunter Biden a favorable plea bargain before it collapsed, indicted Hunter on three gun-related counts, as Breitbart News reported.

Notably, Hunter Biden was not charged with violations of the Internal Revenue Code or the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA). Some reports indicate that this is unlikely to be the end of the gun allegations.

Fox News reports that Hunter's attorney asserted on Friday that the charges against his client will be dropped prior to trial, thereby nullifying the 25-year sentence and fine.

According to the documents, Biden faces three criminal counts, including making a false statement in the purchase of a firearm, which entails a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release.

The second count, which included a deceptive statement regarding information required to be maintained by a federally licensed firearms dealer, carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release.

According to the documents, the third count, possession of a firearm by an illegal user or addict of a controlled substance, carries a maximum of 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release.

“As expected, prosecutors filed charges today that they deemed were not warranted just six weeks ago following a five-year investigation into this case,” Hunter Biden’s lawyer, Abbe Lowell, said in a statement.

“The evidence in this matter has not changed in the last six weeks, but the law has, and so has MAGA Republicans’ improper and partisan interference in this process.”

Former President Donald Trump responded to Lowell's statement by asserting that Hunter Biden was charged with offenses that do not implicate President Joe Biden.

“This, the gun charge, is the only crime that Hunter Biden committed that does not implicate Crooked Joe Biden. One down, Eleven to go!” he said.

“The Democrats, with all of their horrible, very unfair, and mostly illegal Witch Hunts, have started a process that is very dangerous for our Country.”

The gun allegations are the result of Hunter's plea agreement falling apart under judicial scrutiny. The charges against Hunter Biden by Weiss included tax violations but no FARA violations.

Weiss admitted to the judge during the plea hearing that his investigation included an ongoing investigation into potential FARA violations, prompting the judge to query the validity of the agreement.
