Hunter Biden and James Biden, the younger brother of President Joe Biden, missed a deadline to comply with a subpoena from the House Oversight Committee.
House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) confirmed to Punchbowl News that the Biden's had not complied and quipped that, "You’ll be the first to know. I’m sure Jamie Raskin will call you. He’ll say there’s nothing in there!"
The subpoena was for the Biden's bank information which is part of an investigation into suspicious transactions that were exposed by whistleblowers.
The Committee is already working with the Biden's banks but they are seeking a certain level of cooperation from the Biden family.
The subpoena, which was issued in September is requesting access to the Biden's personal and business bank records. Republicans believe such records could further tie President Biden to his son's corrupt business deals.
With Hunter and James Biden missing the subpoena deadline, Republicans on the House Oversight Committee will have to move forward without their cooperation.
The only reason it has taken so long to subpoena the Biden's banking information is because the Committee was trying to "show good faith," and restraint to contrast with the behavior of Democrats who investigated former President Donald Trump.
Unfortunately for the Bidens, they are up against a determined and knowledgeable opponent in the form of Comer, who is a former bank board member.
In 2019, Hunter Biden's Chinese business partners wired him a sum of money which was deposited into an account with Joe Biden's address.
Biden received two payments in July and August totaling $260,000. House Republicans want to know if that money was actually for President Biden considering the fact that Hunter wasn't living with his father and the account has the President designated as a beneficiary.
If Republicans can access the Biden's information they can determine if the President profited from his son's business deals with China. The implications of such a discovery would be massive and likely lead to President Biden's impeachment.
Of all the countries that Hunter Biden has been involved with, China is the most concerning. While he hasn't openly worked with the Chinese Communist Party, the reality of doing business in China necessitates involvement with the CCP.
The business that Biden partnered with is co-owned by the state-controlled Bank of China which establishes a direct link between the President of the United States and communist China.
Now throw in the fact that the Biden family is receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars, it now creates a situation where the President has a financial interest that could be contrary to the interests of the United States.
