When the House Oversight Committee announced that it was holding an investigation into the Biden mental decline cover-up, most of us laughed it off as a political stunt.
I expected everyone to claim privilege or just lie about it, and that would be it.
However, when Trump pulled back privilege for this investigation, it was a game changer, and now Rep. James Comer (R-KY) is taking off the gloves.
Anthony Bernal was a senior adviser for Jill Biden, someone who was touted as having the protection of the president's reputation at the top of his list.
When Comer announced the hearings, Bernal was invited to appear, but he declined.
Several other officials had come in willingly, but Bernal is believed to be one of the main shot callers in the previous White House, so his resistance here was to be expected.
Well, he just got a rude wake-up call from Comer.
Bernal is one of the keys to this whole cover-up, so it was no surprise to see Comer come after him.
Comer announced, “You have refused the Committee’s request. However, to advance the Committee’s oversight and legislative responsibilities and interests, your testimony is critical."
He went on, “To avoid any further delays, your appearance before the Committee is now compelled.”
The key aspect of this is that Dems set the precedent for refusing to comply with a congressional subpoena, so if he does not show up, Republicans can have charges filed for contempt and send him to jail, just like the Dems did with people like Steve Bannon.
Comer was not done there, either, as he dropped a bombshell on Biden’s top officials on Friday.
The panel chair is now dropping big names, like Karine Jean-Pierre, Ian Sams, and Andrew Bates, stating, “President Biden’s inner circle repeatedly told the American people that he was ‘sharp as ever,’ dismissing any commentary about his obvious mental decline as ‘gratuitous.’"
He continued, “They fed these false talking points to progressive allies and the media, who helped perpetuate that President Biden was fit to serve. As part of our aggressive investigation into the cover-up of his cognitive decline and potentially unauthorized executive actions, we must hear from the those who aided and abetted this farce.”
As I said earlier, this was a joke until the privilege was removed, and the subpoena threat is real, but I really want to see what these people have to say under oath because if they keep this charade going, they could all have some very serious legal problems on the horizon.
