House Judiciary Committee issues subpoena for prosecutor who allegedly blocked investigation into Hunter Biden

The House Judiciary Committee subpoenaed a federal prosecutor in the Hunter Biden case over alleged interference from the Department of Justice, the Daily Caller reported. House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan sent the notice to appear to Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Wolf Tuesday.

The Ohio Republican advised Wolf to appear before the committee to give her deposition on Dec. 7. Jordan claimed her conduct in Special Counsel David Weiss's probe warranted answers.

Republicans believe that the information uncovered in the Hunter Biden investigation could be integral to advancing the impeachment inquiry of his father, President Joe Biden. Wolf purportedly covered for both Bidens but was especially careful to keep the elder Biden's name out of the probe.

"As a part of its investigations, the Committee has determined that it requires your testimony because you have first-hand knowledge of the Department’s criminal inquiry of Hunter Biden. In light of the Department’s refusal to make you available for a voluntary transcribed interview, we have no choice but to compel your testimony at a deposition," Jordan wrote to Wolf.

The committee chairman accused Wolf of being behind "many of the decisions to deviate from standard investigative protocol" in investigating the president's son. Jordan believes Hunter Biden may have been getting special treatment at Wolf's behest.

He believes it was Wolf who blocked actions that should have been part of the investigation, including interviews with the younger Biden's adult children, searching his storage unit, and failing to investigate "criminal campaign finance violations." According to Jordan's letter, Wolf was also behind the decision to omit any references to the president in the search warrant.

Much of Jordan's evidence comes from the testimony of whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler, who testified about the ways the Justice Department attempted to interfere with the investigation and cover for the president. They pointed to Wolf as the one who nixed searching the guest house Hunter Biden occupied on his father's private residential property in Delaware.

Shapley, an IRS supervisory special agent, testified that agents investigating Hunter Biden were steered away from any mentions of "the big guy" or "dad" ostensibly because there could be "no specific criminality to that line of questioning," the New York Post reported. However, it appears Wolf had given the order to back off from Joe Biden from the time he was a candidate through his presidency.

Wolf has refused the request to voluntarily give statements, so Jordan is demanding it to further his own probe. “[A]s part of the impeachment inquiry, the Committee is investigating whether President Biden ‘abuse[d] his power as President to impede, obstruct, or otherwise hinder investigations (including Congressional investigations) or the prosecution of Hunter Biden,'" Jordan wrote in his letter.

"Given your critical role you played in the investigation of Hunter Biden, you are uniquely situated to shed light on whether President Biden played any role in the Department’s investigation and whether he attempted, in any way, to directly or indirectly obstruct either that investigation or our investigation," he added. It appears there was a concerted effort from the Justice Department to stonewall the investigation, however.

It claims that Wolf does not have to appear since only employees confirmed by the Senate are required to testify. Jordan disagreed, citing almost a century of precedent of prosecutors answering inquiries from Congress.

"The historical record is replete with examples of the Department providing information related to ongoing criminal investigations to congressional committees, including the exact type of information the Committee is looking for in this investigation," Jordan wrote. He also disputes the "ongoing investigation" excuse used to keep mum.

Unfortunately for the Bidens, it's becoming increasingly difficult to keep a lid on their shady dealings. After an earlier plea deal fell apart, Hunter Biden will soon be on trial for weapons charges and eventually might find himself in a courtroom over his alleged tax crimes.

It appears the fix was in on the investigation from the start as the Deep State circled the wagons for one of their own. Jordan is perhaps on the right track, but he'll first have to continue to contend with so much corruption and collusion from the left.
