House GOP subpoenas Hunter and James Biden's bank records

House Republicans have subpoenaed both Hunter and James Biden's bank records, CBS News reports

Per the outlet:

House Republicans issued three subpoenas Thursday for Hunter Biden and James Biden's personal and business banking records, as part of the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, an escalation in their investigation of the Biden family's business dealings.

Hunter Biden, of course, is the son of President Joe Biden, while James Biden is the president's younger brother.

The subpoenas have been issued by the House Oversight Committee, which is chaired by U.S. Rep. James Comer (R-KY).

Comer issued the subpoenas just after the conclusion of the recent House hearing, which regarded the impeachment inquiry that has been launched into President Biden.

The subpoenas are not of Hunter and James Biden, themselves - although Comer is expected to also issue such subpoenas at some point. But, for now, Comer has subpoenaed Hunter and James Bidens' personal records.

Fox News reports:

The subpoenas compel records, including account statements, direct deposits, deposits, cashier checks, wire transfers, electronic transfer payments, credit and debit card records, loan documents, and other records related to Hunter Biden; his shell companies Owasco, P.C. and Owasco, LLC; Skaneateles; business associate Eric Schwerin; James Biden; Lion Hall Group, LLC: and JBBSR, Inc.

Not all specifics can be detailed because, according to Fox - which has seen the subpoenas - the names of the banks that have been subpoenaed are redacted.

It appears that some of the records that Republicans are seeking are related to President Biden's "CelticCapri" corporation.

Comer has indicated that House Republicans, as part of their investigation, have found that Biden's company has received large sums of money from unknown sources. Accordingly, Comer said that he planned to issue subpoenas to figure out the revenue sources, and this now appears to be what he is doing.

In conjunction with the subpoenas, Comer has released a statement on the matter.

"From day one of our investigation of Joe Biden’s abuse of public office, we’ve followed the money and that continues with today’s subpoenas for Hunter and James Biden’s bank records," he said.

Comer added, "Bank records don’t lie, and coupled with witness testimony, they reveal that Joe Biden abused his public office for his family’s financial gain."

According to Comer, the evidence that House Republicans have found thus far reveals "a pattern where the Bidens sold access to Joe Biden around the world to enrich the Biden family."
