The White House has undergone many renovations in its history, with really only two of them being necessary.
The White House was rebuilt after the British burned it down, and during the Truman presidency, it underwent a major renovation due to structural damage. There were numerous others, however, and nobody ever had a problem with them.
Now Democrats are melting down, including Hillary, who took a moving truck's worth of goodies out of the White House when she and Bill moved out after his second term.
If you ask me, I am all for this renovation. I think the White House needs an event room that it can show off during big state events.
Trump explained, “For more than 150 years, every President has dreamt about having a Ballroom at the White House to accommodate people for grand parties, State Visits, etc. I am honored to be the first President to finally get this much-needed project underway -- with zero cost to the American Taxpayer!"
His post continued, "The White House Ballroom is being privately funded by many generous Patriots, Great American Companies, and, yours truly. This Ballroom will be happily used for Generations to come!”
The funny part about this is that everyone is whining about the donors, saying the White House is being bought and sold by Trump, but nobody whined when Obama took private donations to turn the tennis courts into basketball courts so he could play hoops!
I like to think that Bad Orange Man syndrome is TDS on steroids, and that is what Hillary Clinton has right now.
As pictures of the renovations started to circulate, she posted, "It’s not his house. It’s your house. And he’s destroying it."
The White House responded, "President Trump is working 24/7 to Make America Great Again, including his historic beautification of the White House, at no taxpayer expense. These long-needed upgrades will benefit generations of future presidents and American visitors to the People’s House."
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt explained, "The White House is currently unable to host major functions honoring world leaders in other countries without having to install a large and unsightly tent approximately 100 yards away from the main building's entrance.”
Other than the Truman renovation, one of the largest undertakings was during the FDR administration, which just happened to take place during the Great Depression and in the immediate aftermath of it, but he was a Democrat, so it’s okay.
As far as other renovations of the White House, the West Wing was built by Teddy Roosevelt, the first Oval Office was added to the White House by William Taft, Jackie Kennedy tore up the lawn and added the Rose Garden, Gerald Ford put in an outdoor pool, and we already talked about the Obama renovation.
Most of these renovations were paid for by outside donors, the same as the Trump renovation, only other presidents did not donate millions to help build. This is all just political theater by the Democrats.
From my perspective, I cannot wait to see the first Democrat event in that ballroom just to see if the media calls them out for being hypocrites for using the space that they are now all so upset about.
