Hawley: Biden's recent fall shows 'Weakness' — 'Democrats know it'

Thursday on FNC's "The Ingraham Angle," Missouri Senator Josh Hawley (R) commented on President Joe Biden's earlier fall.

According to the Missouri Republican lawmaker, Biden's collapse symbolized his party's awareness of his frailty, as Breitbart News reported.

“What does that fall, what kind of implications will that have for the Democrat ticket?” fill-in host Rachel Campos-Duffy asked.

“I mean, you see RFK Jr making a lot of moves here, getting stronger, and you see President Biden falling, as the Democrats are trying to rally everyone around him and kick everyone else out of the race. They won’t even debate.”

“I think it definitely signals weakness,” Hawley replied. “I think it doesn’t communicate any signal of strength, any projection or image of strength at all. And I think what it says is, to the rest of the world, is we have an American President who frankly isn’t up to the job.”

“And listen, people know this,” he continued. “The Democrats know it. They say it all the time behind closed doors. They talk about his age.

"They wish he wouldn’t run again. But, he is bound and determined to. And so, pretty soon, the American people are going to get to weigh in.”

According to the most recent NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll, a substantial majority of Americans believe that President Biden's mental fitness is a legitimate concern regarding his presidential qualifications.

Rather than discounting it as merely a campaign strategy employed by his opponents, respondents said so by a 62%-to-36% margin, rather than dismissing it as a mere tactic employed by his opponents.

However, Biden's approval rating increased slightly to 45%, up 4 points from the previous month. This indicates that there will likely be a substantial number of individuals who believe there are grave concerns about Biden's mental fitness but who will vote for him regardless.

Regarding former President Trump, who is also running for office again, 51% said his mental fitness is a legitimate concern, while 43% said it is not.

Biden is the eldest president in U.S. history at the age of 80. His age has also been a source of concern for Democrats, who question whether Biden gives them the greatest chance of victory in 2024, particularly if Trump is the Republican nominee again.

Nearly four out of ten Democrats, seven out of ten independents, and, as expected, more than eight out of ten Republicans viewed his mental fitness as a major concern.

Several key Democratic and swing groups, including those 45 or younger (69%), GenZ/Millennials (67%), men (66%), those without a college degree (66%), non-whites (64%) and suburbanites (63%), viewed Biden's mental fitness as a legitimate concern.
