During the 2024 campaign, Joe Biden donned a “Trump 2024” hat in what he claimed was an effort to show unity.
According to new reports, Kamala Harris was furious at the PR stunt just months before voters would head to the polls.
In September 2024, Biden was in Pennsylvania at a local firehouse to commemorate 9/11.
During the event, one of the attendees gave Biden a “Trump 2024” hat, so, as a joke, Biden put the hat over his own, which he said he was doing as a gesture of unity with Republicans.
Biden was clearly just joking around with people, but the gesture ended up backfiring big league.
As an example, someone posted, "Kamala did so bad in last night's debate, Joe Biden just put on a Trump hat.”
All of Trump’s allies jumped all over the gesture, and pictures of Biden in the hat flooded the internet.
For instance, the Trump War Room account on X posted the picture, with the caption, “Thanks for the support, Joe!”
While some of the digs were in good fun, some of them addressed Biden’s mental awareness, hinting that he did not even know what he was putting on his head.
Now, I am not saying that hat swung the election, but it was right after Harris’ debate with Trump, and that is when Harris started to lose her edge in polling, which was completely gone by the time voters went to the polls.
As we noted, this was around the time that Harris started to collapse in polling, and it became apparent the election was going to be a dogfight.
She apparently failed to see the humor in Biden’s gesture, telling someone on her team, "What is he doing? This is completely unhelpful. And so unnecessary."
Biden also hurt Harris when he had his deplorables moment, calling Trump supporters garbage. At the time, Biden stated, "Donald Trump has no character. He doesn’t give a damn about the Latino community. Just the other day, a speaker at his rally called Puerto Rico a floating island of garbage. The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters. His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American.”
Harris immediately tried to distance herself from the remarks, responding, "I strongly disagree with any criticism of people based on who they vote for. You heard my speech last night and continuously throughout my career. I believe that the work that I do is about representing all the people, whether they support me or not."
