There is no way Donald Trump ever thought it would take this long into his presidency to have the Ukraine-Russian war and the Israel-Hamas war come to a conclusion.
He promised he would have them ended on day one, if not sooner, but eight months later, both inherited wars are still raging.
Trump has made moves to push Russia toward peace, and now he is giving Hamas one last chance to sign a ceasefire deal or face the consequences.
About four months ago, the Trump administration thought it had reached a deal.
Special Envoy Witkoff had been in talks with both parties, and it was announced that Israel had agreed to terms, and they were just waiting on Hamas.
At the time, the White House stated, "I can confirm that Special Envoy Witkoff and the president submitted a ceasefire proposal to Hamas that Israel backed and supported. Israel signed off on this proposal before it was sent to Hamas.”
Well, Hamas declined the deal, stating that the terms were not what had been discussed with Witkoff, so there was no deal in place.
When Hamas declined, Israel went right back to attacking, and it has not let up.
Just a few days ago, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated, "This is a final warning to the Hamas murderers and rapists in Gaza and in luxury hotels abroad: Release the hostages and put down your weapons -- or Gaza will be destroyed and you will be annihilated.”
He further warned, "Today, a massive hurricane will hit the skies of Gaza City.”
Clearly, patience is running thin, and that would include the White House.
Trump has expressed approval of Israel’s plan to unload on Hamas if they do not put pen to paper soon to sign a deal.
Trump warned Hamas, "Everyone wants the hostages HOME. Everyone wants this War to end. The Israelis have accepted my Terms. It is time for Hamas to accept as well."
He continued, "I have warned Hamas about the consequences of not accepting. This is my last warning, there will not be another one! Thank you for your attention to this matter."
I am all-in on this. From day one, I have stated that Hamas must be eliminated if Israel is ever to have peace with Palestine. As long as a terror state is permitted to exist in that country, it is a threat. I think Israeli leaders would prefer to keep fighting, to be honest, to ensure the threat is exterminated.
