Hamas acknowledges deaths of five key leaders in devastating setback

A major strike against Hamas as the terror group confirms the loss of five top leaders, shaking its foundation amid the Gaza conflict.

Hamas, through its armed wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, officially acknowledged on Monday that senior figures Mohammed al-Sinwar, Abu Obeida, Raed Saad, Mohammed Shabanah, and Hakam al-Issa have been killed during Israeli military operations, according to Fox News.

For American taxpayers, this development raises questions about the billions in foreign aid sent to the region—money that could be rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure instead of funding endless conflict.

Retirees, already squeezed by inflation, shouldn't bear the financial burden of policies that seem to prioritize foreign wars over domestic stability. If Hamas is weakened, as this news suggests, why not redirect those funds to Social Security or Medicare before another dime disappears overseas? Let’s demand audits of every cent spent—no exceptions, no excuses.

Significant Losses for Hamas Leadership

The saga began earlier this year with Israeli forces targeting Hamas strongholds, starting with Mohammed al-Sinwar, brother of the late Yahya al-Sinwar, killed in an airstrike on a command center under Khan Younis’ European Hospital, according to Israel’s military in May.

Next, Abu Obeida, the masked mouthpiece of the al-Qassam Brigades whose real name was revealed as Hudhayfa Samir Abdullah al-Kahlout, was taken out in a Gaza City strike in late August, per Israeli reports, though Hamas only confirmed it Monday. Talk about a delayed press release—guess unmasking their propaganda star wasn’t on the priority list.

Raed Saad, a top commander and alleged mastermind of the horrific Oct. 7, 2023, attack that left 1,200 dead and over 250 hostages taken, was eliminated on Dec. 13 after Israel tracked him through Gaza’s tunnel maze.

Israeli Operations Target Key Figures

Mohammed Shabanah, who led Hamas’ Rafah Brigade, and Hakam al-Issa, a founding member of the al-Qassam Brigades, also met their end in separate Israeli airstrikes earlier this year, with al-Issa killed in Gaza City’s Sabra neighborhood.

These strikes, conducted even before a ceasefire took hold in October, show Israel’s resolve to dismantle Hamas’ hierarchy, no matter the diplomatic noise.

While the ceasefire paused open fighting, Hamas’ confirmation of these deaths suggests the damage was already done—perhaps a sign that peace deals don’t heal deep wounds overnight.

Political Moves Amid Military Successes

On Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025, the al-Qassam Brigades handed over Israeli hostages in Deir al-Balah, Gaza, a move that might signal desperation more than goodwill after losing key players.

Meanwhile, on Monday, Dec. 29, 2025, President Donald Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, likely discussing the next steps in this chess game.

Trump, never one to mince words, stated, “They’re going to be given a very short period of time to disarm.” Well, that’s a line straight out of a Western—let’s see if Hamas moseys along or digs in deeper.

What’s Next for the Gaza Conflict?

These deaths are a gut punch to Hamas, no question, but the bigger picture for conservatives is ensuring our government doesn’t keep writing blank checks while veterans sleep on sidewalks.

America First means scrutinizing every policy, every dollar, and every outcome—because if we don’t, the progressive crowd will happily spend our future on their pet projects while ignoring the real costs at home.
