Guardian Angels take down intruder during live interview with Sean Hannity

During a live interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity on Tuesday, Curtis Sliwa's Guardian Angels, known for their anti-crime efforts, were captured on camera in a physical altercation with a man amidst discussions about New York's migrant crisis.

As the interview unfolded, Sliwa, surrounded by members of the Guardian Angels, witnessed one of his associates abruptly leave the frame, followed shortly by the rest of the group, leaving Sliwa alone in front of the camera.

The incident

Sliwa then informed Hannity about an incident involving their apprehension of a man near the intersection of 42nd Street and 7th Avenue, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

Footage revealed the Guardian Angels encircling the man, with one member visibly pushing him before others assisted in restraining him on the ground.

Later in the broadcast, Sliwa and the Guardian Angels provided their account of the altercation, claiming the man had been engaged in shoplifting and resisted their attempts to detain him.

Sliwa's response

Sliwa defended the Guardian Angels' actions, characterizing their use of "pain compliance" techniques as necessary to subdue the individual until law enforcement arrived.

He underscored the organization's commitment to maintaining law and order in New York City, particularly in areas like Times Square, where criminal activity has escalated.

Expressing frustration with perceived leniency toward undocumented individuals committing crimes, Sliwa emphasized the Guardian Angels' proactive approach, contrasting it with law enforcement directives to maintain distance.

He asserted that those engaging in criminal behavior, regardless of their immigration status, must face consequences for their actions.

The background

Sliwa's past involvement in staged incidents for publicity and a recent arrest at an anti-immigration rally outside Mayor Eric Adams' residence have raised questions about his credibility and tactics.

Despite these controversies, Sliwa remains steadfast in his advocacy for stronger enforcement measures to address crime and maintain public safety.

The incident captured on camera during the Hannity interview highlights the ongoing tensions surrounding New York's migrant crisis and underscores the challenges faced by individuals and organizations striving to address the issue.

As debates over immigration policy continue, incidents like these serve as a reminder of the complexities and controversies inherent in efforts to address crime and immigration in urban centers like New York City during the heated election year.
