Grassley says IRS agents were excluded from Biden bribery scheme briefing

U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) claims that Internal Revenue Service (IRS) agents were excluded from a briefing that was held on an investigation into a "criminal bribery scheme" involving President Joe Biden and the Biden family.

Grassley indicated as much in a letter that he sent to U.S. Attorney David Weiss on Sunday, July 9.

Weiss has found himself in news headlines a lot recently. This is because he is the federal government prosecutor who ostensibly oversaw the investigation into the Department of Justice's (DOJ) investigation of Hunter Biden.

This is the same investigation that recently resulted in a plea deal, in which Hunter Biden agreed to plead guilty to tax and gun-related crimes so that he can avoid jail time. Many are arguing that the DOJ let Biden off easy because of who his father is.

Since that guilty plea, IRS whistleblowers have alleged that Weiss, in fact, was not really calling the shots in the Hunter Biden investigation. Rather, whistleblowers say that Weiss was hampered by his superiors, including U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland. House Republicans continue to investigate this situation.

Grassley's letter concerns what has been referred to as the Biden bribery scheme.

The FBI has a document - an FD1023 form - that is based on information from a source whom the FBI has described as "highly credible." That source claims that President Joe Biden - back when he was vice president - and Hunter Biden each received $5 million a piece in exchange for getting fired the Ukrainian prosecutor who was investigating the Ukrainian energy company on whose board Hunter Biden sat at the time.

Grassley is among those Senate Republicans who are investigating this situation. And, it is to this end that Grassley recently sent a letter to Weiss.

In the letter, Grassley claims that IRS agents were left out of a government briefing that was held regarding the alleged bribery scheme.

The letter, in part, reads:

Based on information provided to my office from individuals aware of the meeting, on October 23, 2020, Justice Department and FBI Special Agents from the Pittsburgh Field Office briefed Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Wolf, one of your top prosecutors, and FBI Special Agents from the Baltimore Field Office with respect to the contents of the FBI-generated FD1023 alleging a criminal bribery scheme involving then-Vice President Biden and Hunter Biden; however, the meeting did not include any IRS agents.

Accordingly, the question is why these IRS agents were left out. At the moment, we do not have the answer.

But, Grassley goes on to note that Wolf "prevented investigators from seeking information about Joe Biden’s involvement in Hunter Biden’s criminal business arrangements."

And so, there is the possibility that the IRS agents were left out for this same reason - to hamper investigations into the Bidens.

At the moment, there are far too many questions that remain unanswered. But, based on what has been discovered so far, the whole situation just does not smell right.
