GOP Governor ready to redraw maps

When Texas announced it was redrawing its maps, you just knew this was going to start a chain reaction, and it has.

First, California said it would redraw its maps, then Illinois and Maryland threatened to do the same, and now House Minority Leader Jeffries (D-N.Y.) made it sound like it is going to happen all over the country.

So, as expected, more GOP governors are getting in on the act.

It’s a Redo

Governor Gavin Newsom is great at playing the righteous one, and he has been taking that route ever since Texas said it was going to redo its maps.

Now, keep in mind, California’s maps are already gerrymandered, giving the GOP about half the representation it should have, but Newsom wants to get rid of more GOP seats.

Newsom presented this as a necessary evil to fight off Texas, and the media ate it right up.

Now, it will be up to voters to decide, as the measure was passed and will be put on an upcoming ballot.

More Changes Coming

Democrats have literally said that Texas is breaking the law, yet Jeffries is now openly stating that more Democrat states will redraw their maps to counter Texas.

Jeffries stated, “Corrupt and desperate Republicans are scheming to gerrymander the congressional map in Indiana. Democrats will respond forcefully, just like we did in California."

So, I am a little confused here. When the GOP does it, it is corrupt. When the Democrats do it, it is defending Democracy, right?

To that point, if you rob my house, then I apparently have every right to rob your house in response? It’s the same logic, yet nobody in the media seems to understand that.

Pushing Back

Now it is the GOP’s turn to rig more maps, with Republican Gov. Mike Kehoe stating that Missouri will likely redo its maps.

He stated, “This is about clarity for voters and ownership of our future, and I hope the legislature will work together to pass our Missouri First Map and critically needed IP reform.”

Dems, of course, are outraged, with Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) stating, “I will not surrender the voices of the people who entrusted me to fight for them. In the courts and at the ballot box, we will demand that the rule of law is upheld, our voices are heard, and democracy prevails.”

It’s comical, it’s embarrassing, and it’s disgusting. I don’t support gerrymandering, period, but as I have stated before, everyone does it, only now it is on steroids. This train is getting exhausting to ride in that one side is painted as the villain, but when the other side does the same exact thing, it is considered a hero and defender of justice and democracy. When does it end?
