Germany's climate and economic minister slams Angela Merkel for stifling energy production, vindicating Trump

Former President Donald Trump was prescient about many things. Now, Germany's energy crisis has proven another of his long ago made predictions.

Germany's climate and economic minister, Robert Habeck, slammed German Chancellor Angela Merkel's party for green initiatives that have stifled energy production, Breitbart reportedThe green energy policies the party promoted led to the country's crippling dependence on Russian energy.

"[T]he [Christian Democratic] Union has ruled this country and many federal states for 16 years," Habeck said. "Sixteen years of energy policy failure," the Green party minister said.

"And in a few months, we will clean up what you screwed up, prevented, and destroyed in 16 years," he promised. Germany is now at a tipping point with Russia cutting off its supply over the war in Ukraine while its own energy production has declined due to green energy.

However, Habeck is part of the problem as the Greens, Social Democrats, and Free Democrats have banded together to wage a war on nuclear power. Even as they give lip service to correcting the problem, Habeck and have yet to reverse course completely.

This whole situation was foreseen by Trump. Merkel had cut a deal to support the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline that would bring fossil fuels from Russia out to the rest of Europe, and what the then-president warned at the time has been proven right.

"Germany is totally controlled by Russia — they will be getting 60-70 percent of their energy and a new pipeline," Trump said at a breakfast during the North Atlantic Treaty Organization summit in 2018. Merkel had not been invited to the event but later defended the decision by insisting Germany was "independent of Russia."

Trump has been proven right too many times to count. Germany is in trouble and completely beholden to Russian energy -- and it's just as terrible as the former president predicted.
