Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) wants answers from Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over a freed migrant arrested for nearly killing a Virginia police officer.
Yacarely Diaz-Castro, 30, of Nicaragua, reportedly crashed into a police officer in a drunk driving incident last month.

"Gaetz, in a letter to Mayorkas, said he wants answers about how Diaz-Castro was released into the United States interior by DHS," Breitbart News reported.
“Diaz-Castro was known to your Department. She is from Nicaragua and entered the United States illegally seven months ago, and she allegedly claims to have received a ‘Notice to Report’ Form I-385,” Gaetz wrote.

"In light of this, the Florida Republican is asking the department to provide him with Diaz-Castro’s immigration status on Aug. 18, when, to the best of authorities’ knowledge, she crossed the border illegally, and if she reported to ICE," the Washington Examiner reported.
"He is also asking DHS how many people who cross the border illegally fail to comply with their 'notice to report' forms, what steps DHS takes to remove those who fail to comply with their 'notice to report' forms, and how many law enforcement officers and first responders have been injured by illegal immigrants in the past two years," it added.

Gaetz also took to social media to speak out on his demands for information about officers injured or killed by illegal immigrants.
"I’m demanding answers from @SecMayorkas on how many law enforcement officers and first responders have been injured by illegal aliens under his and Joe Biden’s watch," he wrote Monday.
The case adds to concerns over the Biden administration's border crisis that is now impacting locations far beyond the border.
In addition to the Virginia case, migrants have continued to overwhelm local resources in major cities like New York where tens of thousands of migrants have moved in recent months.
Mayorkas now has to answer for both the massive numbers and the dangerous situation involving a Virginia officer over the migration effort taking place under Biden's open-border policies.
