President Joe Biden and his White House handlers claim he's up for running for a second term, but any reasonable person knows that he'll be lucky to finish out his first term.
As Biden's cognitive abilities seemingly continue to decline, Fox News opinion columnist Liz Peek suggested in a recent op-ed that First Lady Jill Biden might be positioning herself to run the show, at least in the background.
"Jill Biden, who goes by 'Dr.' by dint of a Ph.D. in education, is reportedly an increasingly important presence in the White House and is expected to serve on the campaign trail as the president’s surrogate and adviser," Peek wrote.
She added: "That’s right. The woman who last year had to apologize for comparing Latinos to 'breakfast tacos,', has, according to Bloomberg, become the most influential person in the West Wing."
Peek noted that with Ron Klain out as Biden's chief of staff, and who some believe was running the show in the background, a power vacuum has formed, giving Jill Biden the ability to have increased influence.
"Jill Biden has been described as the president’s closest confidant and has influenced not only his decision to run again but also policy decisions and key hires, such as his choice for Secretary of Education. She is fiercely protective of Joe, though it is not clear what exactly she is protecting him from," Peek wrote.
It's certainly not out of the realm of possibility that Jill Biden has been calling many of the major shots during her husband's term in the White House thus far.

Peek pointed out that Biden spends most of the time hiding from the press and at his Delaware homes.
She wrote, "Americans should ask: how can we re-elect a president who is not trusted by his wife or top staffers to hold press conferences? If he is not capable of meeting the media, how can we let him represent our country in sit-downs with rival leaders like Xi Jinping?"
Peek is right on the money.
We can't even count on Biden to shoot down enemy spy equipment when it crosses into U.S. airspace.
As Biden continues his sad and difficult-to-watch cognitive decline by what seems like each passing week, only time will tell who steps in to fill the vacuum, but it sure looks like Jill Biden is in a prime position.
God help us all if that's the case.
