Former AG Mark Brnovich suggests Michelle Obama could replace Biden in 2024

Mark Brnovich, the former Republican attorney general of Arizona, just suggested that former first lady Michelle Obama could replace President Joe Biden as the Democrats' presidential candidate in 2024.

Brnovich made the suggestion during an appearance on GB News alongside Nigel Farage, the well-known British Brexit politician.

The pair began by agreeing that it is unlikely that President Biden will be the Democrats' presidential candidate in 2024.

While it is true that Biden continues to dominate 2024 Democratic Party presidential primary polls, he is struggling in just about all other polls, including polls about his handling of the issues, polls about his approval rating, and polls about a hypothetical general election matchup with the Republican Party's top presidential candidate, namely, former President Donald Trump.

For this reason, Farage and Brnovich are far from the only ones who have doubts about Biden in 2024. Even former President Barack Obama has recently expressed concerns about Biden's chances in 2024.

The big question for Democrats, though, is, "If not Biden, then who?"

It was here that Brnovich and Farage suggested several other possibilities, including Michelle Obama, Vice President Kamala Harris, and California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D).

Over the past year, there has been significant speculation about the possibility of Michelle Obama replacing Biden as the Democrats' 2024 candidate. A simple Google search will turn up dozens of articles suggesting this possibility.

Obama herself has repeatedly claimed that she has no interest in running for public office. But, there is no denying the fact that she has significant support among Democrats, so much support, in fact, that she would be likely to outperform Biden or just about any other candidate that the Democrats could put forward for 2024.

We'll have to see whether Obama gives in to the temptation at some point. But, for now, it appears that she is content to remain in the background.

Brnovich, for his part, seems to think that the Democrats are likely to stick with Biden in 2024.

He told Farage:

Sometimes you hear these murmurings about Michelle Obama or Kamala Harris, but the Democrats have put themselves in a real pickle. They’re kind of stuck with Joe Biden, but I do think behind the scenes, every Democrat I talk to is petrified that if it is Joe Biden versus Donald Trump, Donald Trump will win.

In a hypothetical 2024 general election matchup, Real Clear Politics has Trump beating Biden, on average, by 2.3 percentage points.

Even more significant, though, is the fact that Trump's lead over Biden has only been growing in recent months.
