Florida's political landscape has taken an exciting turn as State Representative Hillary Cassel has left the Democrat Party to join the GOP.
The Daily Wire reported that President-elect Donald Trump not only acknowledged the move but also seized the opportunity to entice other Democrats considering jumping ship to join the GOP.
The news of Cassel's party shift broke last week, making her the second representative from Florida to change flags, hence extending the Republican supermajority in the State House.
Speaking about her decision, Cassel commented, "The decision was not made lightly but comes from a deep sense of responsibility to my constituents and my commitment to the values that guide my service."
The Representative plans to join the Republican Conference of the Florida House of Representatives, asserting a shared vision for a thriving Florida.
Touching on the subject of parenthood, Cassel added, "As a mother, I want to help build a world where our children are judged on their character and their actions not on their labels."
Cassel, a Jewish woman, has voiced her worries regarding the Democratic Party's tepid support for Israel and their tolerance towards radical progressivism.
She further mentioned a growing disconnect between the Democratic Party and the daily woes of Floridian citizens, ultimately declaring, "I can no longer remain in a party that doesn’t represent my values."
Through a message on his preferred social media platform, Truth Social, President-elect Donald Trump congratulated Cassel on her decision to 'switch sides' and extended an invitation to other ‘discontented Democrats’ to join the GOP in a bid to "Save our Country and Make America Great Again - GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE."
Concluding his message with a personal note of gratitude, Trump declared, "THANK YOU HILLARY!"
Looking ahead, although Cassel understands that there may be disagreements within the Republican fold, she trusts in the sense of collaboration and respect she expects to experience within the conference.
Cassel remains confident in the House Republican Conference's ability to enable its members to resolve the real issues faced by Floridians, reasserting her dedication to the welfare of her community and state.
She concluded by expressing her expectancy to join Speaker Perez and the Republican Conference in the Florida House of Representatives, believing it to be the most effective way to deliver on her political promises.
